On Friday, the NFL Players Association announced it had settled a lawsuit with a group of retired players -- led by former Michigan State star Herb Adderley -- who claimed the union had breached licensing and marketing terms for use of their images in video games and other sports products.

And last month, former Arizona State and Nebraska quarterback Sam Keller sued the NCAA and EA Sports for using images based on players -- although jersey names aren't used -- but not allowing players to profit."
