Throwing home from the outfield is always off line -Is it a bug in game?

Every time I throw home from the outfield, left, center, right field dosen't matter...it is always way off line and usally bounces. The catcher is usally way over to the left or right and never near home plate when the runner is coming home. I have a habbit of holding down the right analog stick, left or right and was wonder if thats my problem, or if this is like a glitch in the game?

I think it could be analog stick related as it depends on what angle or direction you are catching the ball. You'll sometimes see the triangle like image and you should try lining up with that to get a good run up. Make sure you pre load the throw too.

It is also likely player related. I've thrown out numerous runners with Ichiro and Gutierrez and alternatively hit the pitcher's mound with Griffey.

Ive watched the CPU do it alot - off line throws to home. It happens most times. That is not accurate

How do I throw it straight home then with the catcher actully being at home plate and not up the 1st/3rd base line?

It is my understanding that this is a universally recognized problem.

What is everyone so worried about? He already bought the game.

Someone here found a workaround: you need to switch off the fielder just before the catch.

What I do is turn on auto-throwing.

The accuracy of you're throws depends on the arms of your outfielders to my knowledge.

I use the Yankees and I have Melky Cabrera who has a good-great arm and he can nail runners at the plate at a good clip for me. While others on my team who have lesser arms tend to throw offline....

I think players have an arm strength rating and an arm acuracy rating.

In any case I feel that the throwing to home mechanic seems fine to me...Youre not going to hit home all the time, but with players with accurate enough arms you can hit the catcher at home every now and then.

Its not my accuracy of my outfield - problem is my catcher. Everytime he comes up the base line the outfielder hits the catcher right on

That does seem strange....Worst case the catcher in my franchise will sometimes be off the plate about 4-5 yards to either side if the throw is offline.

Are you throwing deep from the outfield? Im assuming your playing as the braves. How are your outfielders arm ratings?

Have you tried another franchise to see if it is a glitch?

I know that my players with worse arms have more trouble throwing accurately home, so I try to hit the cut off man and do a relay when they get the ball. This at least keeps the ball from being up the line, even if the runner doesn't get thrown out.

I have made perfect throws from the outfield at times. So I don't agree this is a problem.

This happens to me with Dejesus and Crisp out in outfield however, Guillen's throws most of the time are on point and are beatiful. I think it depends on your players.

I would agree there is a problem, i have never once seen a throw to the third base side of home....I tested it and no matter what you do more then likely the throw will be off line. I have thrown people out, but that was because they were slow not because of a great throw.

If someone would like to show me a video of a throw that is online then I would stand corrected....but I have never seen one and I have played a lot of games.

                          Just my two cents

No you are correct. Throws from the outfielders to home 99.9% of the time are way off and usually the catcher is not in position to make a play at home. I complained about this very thing over a month ago. I got flamed for this opinion as usual if you say you see a problem in this game.

If you want to confirm it, here is what you do:

                              - Set the arm strength slider to 10
                              - Go in and edit all of your outfielders arm strength and accuracy to 99
                              - Play an exhibition game
                              - Confirm the problem
