    The "Motivator" special attribute

Has anyone purchased the "Motivator" attribute for their coach? It says it increases the POT max for players. It also costs 40,000 attribute points. Just wondering if it works and what impact it makes.

Yes, I have, and it functions exactly like you think it would.
Players who were a potential of 90 Overall suddenly become 92 or 93 potential.

Many coaches will start a career with the intention of earning the Motivator. Meaning, they use their initial points when you start a coach to target getting to Motivator. I start with Ambition but I head straight to Motivator if I'm going to play 4+ seasons.

It works as advertised. When you get it, it takes a few days to go into effect, but it can turn stop gap starters into Pro Bowlers and Pro Bowlers in HOFers.

Ok so Im hearing its worth the points.

With it, have you seen any POT 99s? For instance, LT E. Oshiawko is POT 98 without the motivator attribute. I wonder if he would be at 99?

Thanks for the info. I will definitely save up for it.

Yes you will turn a 98 into 99. One thing to note is the skills cap at 99. So if you have a guy with some skills at 99 and the rest at like 40 it won't make much difference (it will pop him to 50 or so in his other skills which STILL suck).

But overall, it will round out a guy very nicely and make studs into super-stars.

            With ambition it costs 34,000...

Yea, I thought about that. It would save me more points in the long run as well. Especially since I am only in my 3rd year.

I agree...I got it for my Jets and we started walking all over everyone. To be honest...got kind of boring then. I could draft anyone and make them all-stars so the challenge was gone in the game

So when you re-sign players, are contracts based on POT or just OVR? For instance, if I dont get the Motivator attribute, would contracts be lower?

I have it as one of my starting skills. I bit the bullet and used 45,000 points on motivation and the previous skill. It didn't leave many points for performance though.

I just bought this for Mike McCarthy in my Packers franchise. OMFG. RG Patrick Boma had maxed out in his pass-blocking skills at PBL 91/PBS 91/PBF 96. Instantly achieved 99s across the set after purchasing Motivator - not just acquired the potential for 99s in pass blocking, all those skills immediately became 99s. The system must keep track of progress points even after you max out, and then accounts for them if your potential changes.

Wow. Wow wow wow. He can now pass-block anyone and everyone. The same thing happened to my other starting O-linemen, who had also maxed out their pass blocking: 99s across the board. QB Jake Scott: 99 actual & potential THP (up from 93?) and 96 actual THA (potential 99).

Juran Riley's top potential speed goes from 91 to 97. Karron Cousin's top pot SPD goes from 88 to 95, Drew Goldman's from 81 to 89. That's unreal.

                        I could go on, but I won't - you've got the picture.

                        Wow. It's a powergamer's dream come true.

                          I don't get it.

I just bought this skill after saving up for about half the season.
It hasn't been a full week yet, but no one has improved at all.

                          What's the deal?

As a matter of fact, I resigned WR Dwane Bowe, who had a potential of 89 or 90, and now he's maxed out at 85. He was at like 88 or 89 before I resigned him. What's up with that?

I've heard that it takes a little while (can't remember if it was a few weeks or a few months) before it kicks in. When I purchased it and saw zero increases, I found a workaround that started showing me the increases immediately. If you change each player's position, then change it back, it will reflect the new potential and stay there.

While the potential will be immediately updated and stay, you will likely see the player's overall bump up then go back down. That's because whenever you change a player's position (even if you change it back, like here) it erases their production grade and tries to create an overall without factoring that in. Once they gain some production, it will begin factoring that in and until that grade gets back to a high level, their OVR will be slightly deflated.

The Bowe issue likely has nothing to do with motivator. I've noticed in every game I've played in that, occasionally, when I release a player on their rookie contract and resign them their potential will drop. I'm guessing whatever causes that is probably what's causing your resigning issue, though I've never had that specific problem. The other possibility's that come to mind are natural potential dropping, which usually occurs around year four or five if they haven't reached a certain percentage of their potential, or philosophy changing.

I just got this attribute and all i can say is, WOW!

it cost me 34000 points, but is well worth it...maybe a bit more than worth it, and also sort of a game killer though for realist. For example, it turns avg players into instant pro-bowlers and pro-bowlers into unstoppable monsters. Nearly my entire team is a pro-bowl squad now.

To clear up some confusion that I read earlier, the max potential values for individual players increase instantly. it is the overall potential value that takes a while to increase, but the individual ratings are already there.
