Re: What the heck is Josh McDaniels doing? Now Marshall wants out
rumors have it to the ravens...........
According to profootballtalk.com, "rumors are flying" that Brandon Marshall could ultimately land with the Ravens.
For now, this is merely speculation. There has been no official reported interest from the Ravens side, but the fit makes sense because Baltimore wants a difference-making wideout. We suspect Denver will do all it can to retain Marshall, especially since they will own his rights for two more years if next year goes uncapped.Comment

So...I guess I don't understand how rumors are flying since Baltimore has expressed no interest and Denver is likely to try everything to hold on to him.rumors have it to the ravens...........

Marshall is a known hot-head. What do you think he's going to do the first time Orton hits him in the back of the head with one of his quacking ducks?
This team needs to be blown up and restarted. Dumping a headache like Marshall is the first step in the right direction. Without a solid QB to keep him happy, he's just going to be a liability on and off the field.Comment

How much do you follow the Broncos? Not being a prick, serious question.Marshall is a known hot-head. What do you think he's going to do the first time Orton hits him in the back of the head with one of his quacking ducks?

He has off the field issues yes.
I have never seen him blow up at a teammate on the field for anything.
Yes he has been a headache, but off the field only, and never to the detriment of his team. He doesn't start fights among teammates, and I have never heard anyone say anything bad about him.
I think it is unfair to make the assumption that:
1.) Orton won't keep him happy and
2.) If unhappy he will become unruly.
He has never shown any signs of being a bad teammate, I don't really know where you are getting this idea from.
And as far as blowing up the team goes, they did a pretty good job of that. Nothing wrong with keeping a few kew pieces.Comment

But his head coach isn't real bright, and has an attitude problem as well. Orton is not very good. All I'm saying is that it's a recipe for disaster to keep him when he's:
a) proven himself to have self control issues
and
b) wants out of dodge because he doesn't like the direction the team is going in.
Keeping him there is asking for trouble. Trade him while he still has value. Once he turns into Pac-Man Jones he'll be worthless.Comment

Even before Shannahan was fired it was speculated he would be a potential holdout.
As has been stated in this thread, this is about money, not about McDaniels.
Believe, I am not trying to defend what he is doing, but you seem to have a bad idea on what kind of a teammate/player he is based on his off field occurrences.
It is clear you don't watch many Bronco games or follow them closely at all and your feelings are based on a few stories you read about Marshall.Comment

Re: What the heck is Josh McDaniels doing? Now Marshall wants out
Problem is, he wont.
I agree with mostly everyone when they say its all about money, but Bowlen wont pay. I just read an article on the denver post website, and Woody Paige said that Bowlen stated that the management team is doing all they can to accommodate his trade request.
Even ESPN.com is saying that 5 teams are interested, but im not an insider so i have no idea who they are.
Its a sad day, but you have to look at McD's offense, and its not designed to focus on just ONE reciever. Sure, B Marsh has been spectaular, but who fumbled 5 times costing us games? Who has had an injury almost at the start of EVERY SEASON?
B Marsh is a great player, but hes plauged like Owens or Pacman. Hes stays, he will probably bash the team and badmouth his way right out of Denver, giving us NOTHING in return. We trade him now, we at least get some more pieces to fill this void of a puzzle.
i dont know about any other bronco fan, but i am looking forward to this season. I have hope, but thats about it.NFL - Denver Broncos

Re: What the heck is Josh McDaniels doing? Now Marshall wants out
How do you figure?
We all know were McD came from, or who was his mentor sorta speak, but i say give the man a chance. Forget about Cutler, he will wish he stayed in Denver when Bears fans eat him alive for making bone-head mistakes.
He brings a fresh offense that doesnt require a big arm, or a spectacular reciever. Hell, i wouldnt be too suprised that over time the critics or cutler himself would begin to complain that he wasnt utilized to his strengths, or that we were wasteing him with this short to medium passing game.
Our running game will most certainly improve, the odds are low that disaster will strike again like it did last season. The worst i see it, is that we are the next minisota vikings at least. Strong running game and a fair pass team.
The only question, which is on everyones mind is the defense. If we blow leads or allow teams to score pretty much every time they get the ball, then yeah...i wasted over $200 on NFL Sunday ticket. But im a fan, and i have not missed a game in 5 years.
None of the offseason problems were McD's fault, and i dont think he "lied and besmirched the franchise" like Al davis claims that Kiff did. He got rid of a prima-donna and hopefully he will rid our team of a owens-pacman like plauge that will drag us more and more into the headlines for the wrong reasons.NFL - Denver Broncos

Re: What the heck is Josh McDaniels doing? Now Marshall wants out
He has to. He has absolutely no bargaining power here. If he sits out, first he loses a year experience which affects his ability to become and unrestricted free agent this upcoming offseason. And second, he gains nothing by not not playing, if he sits out this year and doesn't play no team will give him the contract he thinks he deserves.
I wouldn't look to much into it, that statement has never been confirmed by the Broncos. The only person who claimed Bowlen said that was Marshall's agent. I am not saying it definately isn't true, but there is a good chance that was smoke.I agree with mostly everyone when they say its all about money, but Bowlen wont pay. I agree, but you have to think about one thing...he plays and finishes his deal...what do the broncos get in return? I know that may sound selfish, and it happens every offseason, but why not try and get rid of him for something now?NFL - Denver Broncos

Re: What the heck is Josh McDaniels doing? Now Marshall wants out
Marshall and his agent seem to think the Broncos will just roll over on this one but why would they again? That'll just give any player the thought that they can do it as well if they're unhappy. Bowlen needs to make an example out of Marshall after the Cutler fiasco or it's just going to get uglier by the day.
3 major things working against him that make the Broncos hesitant for a lucrative contract, regardless of the HC. Last year it was a question that people were interested to see how it would play out
-Coming off a fairly serious hip surgery, working with his own medical after his trust issues with the Broncos'
-Catching and ball security issues, along with his operation after losing a fight with McDonalds trash.
-Off the field issues with females, pending suspension still.
Broncos dont have to do anything with him, they have wide recievers that are learning the system and would be happy to play. After this year, they can just slap the franchise on him for another year. Unless Bowlen can get great value in return, I wouldn't mind seeing Marshall bleed his bank account for his attempt at a new deal.Aaron
