Re: Progression Frequency Poll
Keep in mind. They can put a CAP on the total amount per season.....
Also, the potential rating will prevent everyone from turning into OVR 90's rated.
IF progression works correctly you aren't going to see TONS and TONS of increases.
IF stats are done right some people will get better
SOME people will get worse
Look at real life. One player is the best you have seen one year. Someone else is the next.
IT CHANGES from year to year
AND sometimes from first half of the season to the second.
Look at the year the Giants won the super bowl. There is no way that team would have done it if they played the way they did the first 8 games.Last edited by stux; 06-17-2009, 12:51 PM.Comment

Re: Progression Frequency Poll
I'm fine with only the offseason- you wouldn't want the players ratings to blow up by the end of the season if theres so many times to increase.Madden 11' Franchise should be
Madden '10 "foundation" + depth of Head Coach 09 = my dream franchise mode.Comment

Re: Progression Frequency Poll
Yeah, I know.
and I am still in shock.
I didn't think they would drop the ball on this.
Maybe some of you guys don't enjoy seeing the progression/regression or have a lot more time then I do to play the game.
It takes me 2-3 IRL weeks to get through an entire season. See player's progress/regress is a large part of the reason I enjoy playing Franchise Mode. Only being able to see that every 2-3 IRL weeks takes away a ton of the enjoyment of the game for me.Comment

Re: Progression Frequency Poll
What is the difference whether someone increases 8 OVR points during the off season
OR 2 points three times during the regular season (= 6 points) AND 2 points during the offseason = 8 points
It is the same thing expect one is more realistic IMO and more enjoyable IMO..Comment

Re: Progression Frequency Poll
they could have logic increased to give a player a season progression cap, but if a RB like Adrian Peterson has a rookie year where he has a 200 yard game in his third start, he could progress by 6-7 points, but then only have 2-3 more points available to his season long progression. this would allow for players to realize their potential and start playing to it, but not get too good too quick.Comment

Re: Progression Frequency Poll
Exactly, something like that is what I am talking about.they could have logic increased to give a player a season progression cap, but if a RB like Adrian Peterson has a rookie year where he has a 200 yard game in his third start, he could progress by 6-7 points, but then only have 2-3 more points available to his season long progression. this would allow for players to realize their potential and start playing to it, but not get too good too quick.
You still see some increase, there is a cap, it makes playing the game MORE fun, AND it is more realistic.
Come on do you guys honestly think players in REAL LIFE ONLY progress during the off season??Comment

Re: Progression Frequency Poll
How bout a temporary increase for the season- week by week?
Cuz you know, sometimes players have phenominal years, but then come back down to earth the next season. Like Tommy Maddox, for example. Great year with Pittsburgh, but then after that he kind of fizzled out.
Or Kurt Warner. (not saying he isnt great, but-). See, in '99 he probably had the best season ever for a QB (remember he was pulled in the 4th quarter a lot, unlike Brady in 07 or Manning in whenever it was). But the next season, due to injury or whatever, even though he threw a ton of yards his ints went way up. I think he threw 22 TDs to like 18 ints or soemthing like that.
And then of course, his bad seasons in between.
So players can have an execptional year and play at a very high "rating" but then in two seasons hit a drought and go down. And then, like in Warner's case, come back to greatness later on.
So why not have the player's NORMAL rating, then a temporary increase or decrease as the season progresses, and then at the end of the year return to the normal rating, and then progress or regress in the offseason according to the player's potential.I am a franchise guy. And for me, and many like me, an authentic NFL simulation experience is what we want, not just another video game that happens to be about American football.
RIP Steve. You will always be my Hero.Comment

Re: Progression Frequency Poll
I think just in the off season is the best option. If a 68 OVR WR has a break out week or two, it doesn't necessarily make him a 75 OVR. The season is a marathon, not a sprint. I think players need to play well for a whole season before their rating is affected. Just because a guy has a couple good weeks, doesn't mean he's a better player than his rating indicates. Just means he had a couple good weeks.Comment

Re: Progression Frequency Poll
Titansftw,
I am a fan of an idea like that as well.
My belief is there should be a range for every rating. Week to week there should be a static number in the range.
Then after the year is over the player's rating ranges can all progress.
Example:
THA SHORT 88-93 any given game could be any number from 88-93 based on a large number of factors: injury, recent play, practice, coaching, etc.
End of the year the guy has good potential and a great year his range would progress to say 90-95.
That would happen for every rating.Last edited by stux; 06-17-2009, 03:36 PM.Comment
