Which is why I'm still inclined to think they wanted to wait to have more time to devout to presentation, get Thorne and Clement back in the studio and do it right rather than half *** it. I'm glad they adressed more important game play issues like the passing, board play and goalies quite honestly.

Me too since those were the games glaring issues. With those things improved along with the more intelligent franchise with trades all all the other little things like post-whistle play, board play, etc...Which is why I'm still inclined to think they wanted to wait to have more time to devout to presentation, get Thorne and Clement back in the studio and do it right rather than half *** it. lets face it...this game is gonna be tough to match.Comment

Re: E3 NHL 10 Preview
Definately, that was without even mentioning the little things like post whistle scrums (and penalties) new penalties added, enforcers and intimidation etc. I loved 09, I can't see not loving NHL10 even more.Comment

Re: E3 NHL 10 Preview
I turned 09 in early...after just one month...
and i plan on pre-ordering NHL 10...the first time I've ever pre-ordered anything...
thats where the hype is for me.
I'm not expecting the perfect game...im not that foolish...but I'm pretty confident in this game.Comment

They are still early enough in the game reveal process that they could be waiting to talk about presentation.Which is why I'm still inclined to think they wanted to wait to have more time to devout to presentation, get Thorne and Clement back in the studio and do it right rather than half *** it. I know Madden 10 (and it looks like Fifa might be doing the same) talked about gameplay upgrades first because that was the top priority. After talking about gameplay enhancements for a few months Madden revealed the presentation upgrades.
Hopefully NHL 10 does the same.EA: Please add in-game saves.Comment

Re: E3 NHL 10 Preview
I wonder what's going to happen with the Be A Pro camera, especially with the new passing system.
I played through all of my (many) seasons of 09 using the BAP camera--not because it was especially functional, but because I liked the experience. However, even in 09 I had problems with passing due to the inability to see wide portions of the ice. I can imagine things will only be tougher now if you can't make "blind" passes to where you assume the D-man is shadowing you.
Not exactly a bad thing to not be able to just shovel the puck behind you--but it served its purpose since you couldn't really see. =)Comment

Re: E3 NHL 10 Preview
I've always been a gameplay first and foremost type of guy.
And I still am. But I've come to realize just how important truly immersing presentation is. As an example....I'd love to see the Stanley Cup presentation really blown out for NHL '10'. It's not bad in '09' imo...but I'd like to have it be even more special.
I mean, after battling through a 82 game season, plus the playoffs...to me, the Cup presentation should be so impressive ...you can't wait to see it again. Solid gameplay keeps me playing a sports game. But really impressive Championship presentation, is one heck of an incentive too.1969 NFL ChampionsComment

Re: E3 NHL 10 Preview
Agreed. Although just a video game, you should get that :Hair-rising" experience wen you win the cup. not just Bill Clemet talking about how he won it twice. The Conn Smyth winner does not even lift the trophy! You should be able to control your BAP whhen he wins the cup.I've always been a gameplay first and foremost type of guy.

Re: E3 NHL 10 Preview
Exactly Bolts.
I guess I look at it like this...
I love playing dynasty mode in NHL. I never sim any games, so dynasty mode is a rather big investment in time. I try to handle my dynasty as realistically as possible, as far as trades, skill level, ect. So a trip to the Finals would be very few and far between.
If one day I ever get to the Finals...you bet, I want a "Hair raising" experience too. Yep, it's just a video game. But I want it to hurt a bit watching the other team raise the Cup, with this great presentation and atmosphere. Or...have this great feeling of satisfaction watching your teams captain hoisted the Cup in victory.
I've always believed the sports game makers almost can't go too overboard with playoff or especially championship games/trophy presentation. Of course I have to get to the darn Finals one of these days.

You wrote EXACTLY what I was too lazy to write.
Sure, am I going to cry when the cup presentation is not that great, no.
I play all the games. That is a Minimum of 98 games I need to manually play just to get there. I want it to make me smile.Comment

Aparently you'll be able to skate around with the cup this year. Not sure if there's anything else added aside from that.Comment
