Re: NCAA Football 10 Demo Now Available, Post Your Impressions Here
Your thoughts on the demo reflect mine as well. I commented beside some above. Overall I enjoyed it and think the retail version will be just as fun but there are some glaring issues that need to be addressed. My two biggest annoyances are the camera angle and the lagging in the play call screen.First off before the demo, the roster issue is completely unacceptable. I dont see how people still try to take up for this team. They were busy implenting garbage like season showdown and screwed up the rosters.
But after the demo, there are some good and bad things about it.
THE BAD:
1) Ive noticed that unless youre right up on the image, the graphics from a far in this game are absolutely horrible. They are about on the level as a PS2 game. HAs anyone else noticed this???? From a far, Floridas numbers on the back of the jerseys are blurred and you cant really focus on the color. And anything far away is just plain terrible for a next gen game. Never noticed this, but till look when I play tomorrow
2) Theres that glitch where the center snaps the ball over the QBs head like 20 yards. And its ruled incomplete. Thats awful. Happened to me too
3) The camera style is going to take some getting use to. Its ok I guess. I don't really like it, anyone know if we can change it to the classic cam in the retail version?
4) I saw the same tackle over a over. That new tackle looks like something off of blitz. Yep
5) The player models and their movement has moved towards the same style that NBA live and NCAA basketball are like. Which is a complete step in the wrong direction. Seeing as how both of those titles arent worth the disc they are burned on. Haven't played either so can't say
6) The playcall menus are still slow and a little irresponsive. Definitely. More times than not I would press the button to select my play and it wouldn't take so I'd have to press it again. Also moving from play to play and between pages was lagging quite a bit
7) The crowd chants audio is terrible. I noticed this too. Doesn't really sound like it's coming from the crowd, but from something else
8) I think speed will still kill. I still saw some AI defenses taking bad angles. Same. I was playing on AA so maybe it would be different on Heisman.
THE GOOD
1) Mixin and matching of jersys is good. I also like the new stances and bowl endzones. Liked this
2) There were a lot of new animations. Liked these except for the frequency of the above mentioned NFL Blitz like tackle
And there were some more good things. I didnt like how the defense played at all. It seems like I couldnt control anyone and OU WRs were wide open by 10 or 15 yards on every play. Never really had trouble in this area. Got a few INTs. Still trying to get used to the new buttons as they've moved a bunch of stuff around.
The demo kind of dissapointed me. But its still going to be a great game, despite the early roster issues. The only thing that worries me is what other glitches will we come upon on down the road.
The NCAA dev team needs to focus more on getting everything currently in the game right, and worry about new features later. I guess everyone will have to keep saying this until they are blue in the face.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 10 Demo Now Available, Post Your Impressions Here
After playing a few games of the demo (on HEISMAN), I think that this game needs some serious tweaking via real WORKING sliders or a patch. The main issues that I think need to be addressed are still the (1) THE PASS RUSH - On the defensive side of the ball, I am not seeing a very good pass rush for either CPU or USER. This leads to (2) THE QB PLAY - Although I have seen a couple of bad passes (more than in '09), they are still few and far between. The QB for CPU and USER simply has way too much time to throw. USER Passing on default HEISMAN is too easy. I feel like I have all day to throw. My completion % must be in the 85-90's for every game. (3) THE CPU RUNNING GAME - Not so good still. They try to run and do call running plays to mix it up... it just doesn't really work well. I think the most important thing is to have (4) REAL WORKING SLIDERS - for those who haven't heard, sliders are not working properly AGAIN out of the box so we'll have to wait for a patch AGAIN.
I think if sliders actually worked properly (for example: Moving the PASS BLOCK slider to 0 and BREAK BLOCK slider to 100 actually meant terror in the backfield on every play... or having the QB ACC slider actually affect the QB's accuracy), than this game would have the potential to be pretty good. As it stands, I will be one of the many long time fans of the NCAA series that is gonna say, "enough is enough" and sadly pass on this year's game.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 10 Demo Now Available, Post Your Impressions Here
I got sacked quite alot, maybe i held on to the ball too long, but i like the passing game, i can actually throw over defenders heads now, and players will catch the ball without slowing down.
The defensive lock is really cool and after a few games all i did was play as either a LB or Safety. I didnt run much at all so i cant comment on that. I rarely got a sack on defense, there was really no pass rush.
I also liked how i got burned Deep a few times, but a majority of the times theyd pass to players who were running outta bounds and that sucked.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 10 Demo Now Available, Post Your Impressions Here
Overall I think the game is garbage. In an effort to be constructive I'll list the things that I like and what I think is complete trash.
Complete Trash:
-The Player Models: between Sam Bradford's vein popping biceps and the incredible hulk linemen and kickers, it's safe to say this game represents a steroids era of NCAA Football.
-Run Animations: Absolutely horrid. The only player that seems to have a realistic running animation is TE#18 for Oklahoma. I'm sure other players have this animation, but it's the only one I can reference from the demo. The WR's and RB's animate worse than Gumby.
-Lack of refs, chain gang, etc: EA created the slogan "If it's in the game, it's in the game." Well those things aren't in the game, yet they were somehow on the PS2 and Xbox.
-Player Control: The players move as if there is no weight to them. This has been a problem for next gen and is support for why this shoddy engine should be scrapped.
-Pass Rush: Amazing how something so obvious gets by quality control two years in a row. This with the added kick to the balls that the sliders are yet again broken really make me wonder if this series has become an intern project at EA.
Things I like!
-Stadiums: They sure do look nice
-QB Sneak Mechanic: I like it.
Everything else is pretty much the same old song and dance.Last edited by boondock18; 06-19-2009, 02:06 AM.Comment

The PS3 version has some DEFINITE aliasing problems (jaggies) everywhere:
From the playcall screen to every player on the field.
The grass looks really dark.
You cant even make out the numbers or positions on the back of the players jerseys. (smaller print)
It just seems really off to meCharger Fan Born and Raised!

Re: NCAA Football 10 Demo Now Available, Post Your Impressions Here
Wow, I just played the PS3 version and I am stunned.
I feel like I'm playing last years game but with PS2 graphics. The players look absolutely terrible, no pass rush, cpu had all day to pick me apart on slants and crossing patterns. What exactly did they change for this year?, certainly not presentation. The regression in graphics is so bad its embarrassing. Please tell me it looks this bad because they had to step it down for the demo.
I had high hopes for this game, but after playing the demo I will not be purchasing this game. It's sad to see how far this game has fallen. I know the design team is sick of the negativity but really, it is what it is.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 10 Demo Now Available, Post Your Impressions Here
Ok I feel much better now! After going back and watching the vids Steve posted, it is obvious that is not the same annoying camera that is in the demo....... so either it has been fixed for retail version or there is an option to go back to classic cam. If you take a look @ those vids it definately appears to me to be the old camera angle we are accustomed too. Wish we could get some confirmation on it but look for yourself and see what you think.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 10 Demo Now Available, Post Your Impressions Here
Same shhh different year.
Robo QB is still there.
No pass rush.
CPU QB completing passes for -3 yards.
I played as OU and Tebow had like 16 pass attempts and 2 rushes.
All the major problems from last year are still there.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 10 Demo Now Available, Post Your Impressions Here
a couple things i liked were the the game planning features how i could make a receiver go deep after his route because it helped me tie the game and i also like the new camera feature that isn't forced but optional. the game is still too easy imo on heisman.
i don't get why everybody looks like they got some steroids before the game tho. a lot of players look more cut than built up in real life. they all look like thomas jones from the jets in different colors lol.
did anybody else have trouble with wr screens? i couldn't even complete one.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 10 Demo Now Available, Post Your Impressions Here
I love the player lock defensive camera. Been waiting for that for years.
Playbooks seem more advanced for Florida and Oklahoma.
-------
Special Teams are terrible.
CPU pace is still off, no audibles, movement of patience at the line of scrimmage.
Presentation is still quite boring. Cheerleaders, TD celebrations and after play cut scenes are so spastic and not nearly with the polish I had hoped.
Teambuilder makes me interested in buying the game.Comment

Re: NCAA Football 10 Demo Now Available, Post Your Impressions Here
I am getting it for sure. I love all the new tackle animations. Graphics do seem to look worst than I remember them looking in 09 but they are no where close to being unbearable. I like the feel of the DL controls.
I know it could be a whole lot better and that they still do not have the content that is on the old gen games. I know a lot of people want everything that is in madden but I am glad it is not the exact same as madden. I play both and that would get boring if they were identical.
I am sure I will play this a lot and have a lot of fun with it. I hope EA finds a way to get in at the very least all the good stuff that is still missing from the old gen versions.
I wish they would of spent their time getting the real FCS teams in the game properly instead of that stupid team builder crap but I also understand that a lot of people like stupid team builder crap and don't want to play a college football game with all the real college football teams so yeah whatever. No wonder the game is the way it is. We cant all win. In the end I think this will be good enough to be very enjoyable.Comment
