Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed: Pre-Fight Strategy
When comes to fight Mir, I tend to pick fighters with high ground striking offense decent grapple defense like Cain Valasquez (sic?), take them down, sit in guard and just pound away. The key is not letting them (or any BJJ guy) get into rubber guard.Comment

adding on to what noble said,
you have to pick guys with a great submission defense and striking game.
you have to study your fighters, you cant just pick anybody.
i love to pick kenny florian from the lightweights.
i suggest you pick him if you know how to use him.he's a great figter.Comment

Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed: Pre-Fight Strategy
my approach is based soley on the opponents scouting report / record compared with who I'm using. if I see the person does not have a lot of wins via submission, I may aim to submit him. Ultimately, it depends on the strengths of my fighter. if I am using cro cop, I am gonna aim to KO with a kick. Jon Fitch, submit. W. Silva, clinch strikes. of course, if it goes to the ground game, I'm aiming to mount.fool me once... shame on me.

False. I primarily use wrestlers and can do work on skilled BJJ guys.

Seriously, if you pick a wrestler you better be good at the flick for reversals and use a guy with good grappling O and D. You also gotta hope for no lag.
BJJ is so good because you have reversals as sig transitions(LB or L1 + quater circle) from side control D, half guard D, mount D and a major transition to full mount from RG. I'm not even counting the submission advantage.
I can hang with a good BJJ player online, but i'm not going to the ground unless i can get a slam from the clinch to side control and go straight to mount with a sig transition. If you try anything else you're asking for trouble against a good player. He's either going to reverse you or get you in a sub eventually. If you can take him down near the cage and get to full posture that's not a bad idea, but it's still risky depending on your stamina and sub D.Last edited by Pro Bowler; 06-22-2009, 10:14 PM.Comment

Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed: Pre-Fight Strategy
if you're in rubber guard you should just do a minor transition and get to full mount. from there you can try to do some GNP or if you're not comfortable, just stand back upComment

Just made a guy to try a light weight career on expert. I did it with no losses. Wanna know how?
1. Choose your fights carefully, and spar before the fight to see if there ground based or standing based and assign skills accordingly.
2. Max out your abilities before you even start sparring for skills.
3. Most importantly, I was a Judo Kickboxer. Kickboxers if you can use them properly are way overpowered. Judo is just so u don't die if they bring you down, and to stop muay tie fighters from taking advantage of the clinch.Comment

Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed: Pre-Fight Strategy
If you're put into rubber guard, even if you use transition blocks, they will eventually transition on you (usually into full mount). In order to prevent this, it's important to either avoid rubber guard as best you can, or become comfortable with reversals. Ever since I've learned reversals, I am not comfortable against ANYONE on the ground.Comment

am i the only person who likes fighting mir? maybe its cause i dislike him so much in rl that i try harder in the game to beat him, but i can take mir out with nog anyday of the week, also fabrico werdum, and even cro cop when im feelin arrogant. his stiking defense is low as ****, pound him in the ribs a couple times, bam no more submissionComment
