I agree. The patch era has certainly hurt the quality of games at release. It's a double edged sword since I like the fact they can fix problems but it turns the consumer into a free beta tester which can be really frustrating.

Again I apologize for picking out your post (I've just seen this same type of response to many times)... I totally get the frustration, I'm pretty angry about the situations myself.

We are not rolling over and just letting the problems stay, we are working on solutions and fixes right now.
Im not trying single to you and/or Adam out(it appear that you guys are the only ones that care). I was talking about the whole dev team but especially the final decision maker over NCAA. I think certain things should take priority over others. Its great that Team Builder work but it shouldnt take priority over the rosters. And thats what I mean by excuses the is no reason for the pass rush to be almost as ineffective as 09 but Im sure theres no glicthes in Season Showdown.
You looking at the Chair MAN!

Number may not tell the whole story ,but they never lie either.

Season Showdown has a sponsor and that is why it has gotten the most attention, its as simple as that. Its sad to see but it is a theme in modern games and with the economy the way it is I'm sure EA would love to make any money they can. Hell last year Coke sponsored audibles. I thought that was the stupidest thing ever until this year.

Da Throne, there are quite a few EA devs on the boards just lurking. They cannot create an OS account and post on OS as EA reps unless they are cleared by the marketing department. Adam and Russ are the only ones allowed to talk here at the moment. Everyone else must stay silent whether they want to or not.

There are laws for most other consumer products that protect you from buying broken/incomplete goods. I have also seen the "video games don't kill people" arguement, but video game/software industry is a multi billion dollar a year industry and I think no matter what you are selling you should be held accountable. It wouldn't be so bad but say you go to gamestop or walmart or target if you open the game and play it, you have to return it for the same game. I know you can sell it on ebay or whatever but you still do not get your money back. I guess my point is no one stands by their product. Most will read this and not agree and that is fine. Here are the facts

            The game will ship broken

EA knows the game is flawed

There will be no notice on the game stating that it is incomplete or broken

There will be no refund or exchanges for another game at the same price

There is no guarantee that all the issues in the game can be fixed with a patch

3 years of development on the ps3/360 should be plenty of time to get basic gameplay issues resolved.

Excellent Post. Couldn't have said it any better. My entire problem with EA right now is that this will be two years in a row they have shipped broken games. There should be some sort of law monitoring this behavior because it is unethical.

You know what is funny? I can remember last year when NCAA 09 came out it was the same posts from guys on here, about the same issues! I am not mad really just very disapointed. I really thought that this year everything would come together. No re-design of player models or stadiums. No huge areas that needed to be re-done. I just can't see where the development time was put into this years game. I guess team builder and season showdown took most of the time. Protak must have took a lot of time to have 2 player tackles? I really have no idea why the same issues are in 10.

I've said it before, but I think a large percentage of people who worked on 09 were not around for 10. My guess is there were budget cuts. Thus, we only saw minor improvements.

Though I think 10 for me is a must buy.

Re: NCAA Football 10 - Current Plans

This whole situation--and all the situations like it recently such as MLB 2K9--just shows how terrible the exclusive licenses have been for sports gamers.

Mistakes are made, people are human, and I do appreciate the developers coming on these boards to interact (some brave guys, IMO).

But in several different sports games recently there have been problems at a very basic level that have resulted in the need for immediate patches. I'm not talking about a weak pass rush that is annoying but part of the game play as it's programmed, for better or worse. I'm talking about glitches and errors in gameplay or something as basic as the rosters (that, as they are now, hurt the game substantially).

All of these problems continue to point to one area: quality control. Basic play testing and review of the product. Here we are a few weeks away from shipping and it's the game community pointing out these problems and the developers--rightly--scurrying to put together patches to make it right.

EA is not alone in this. 2K screwed the pootch big time with MLB 2K9 and managed to put out a patch that worked, somewhat, on addressing issues that made the game nearly unplayable. However, this is two years in a row wherein NCAA needs major post-release assistance.

I mean seriosly, wtf is going on in the sports gaming world?

I would be pumped if the game had :

                            • formation subs sponsored by Coke Zero
                            • historic teams sponsored by Pontiac
                            • custom playbooks sponsored by Old Spice

Will be hard for Pontiac to sponsor anything since they won't be around. Maybe Huffy banana bikes can though?
