I can finally purchase this game.... And no, I do not nor did I have any desire to play this game online - So who cares if some do not like this DLC.... At least we have a choice now as a consumer. And in that, we all win.
      Truly Blessed -

I can't believe the hate in this thread and all the others like it. Some people enjoy playing the game one way, some people enjoy playing it another. Just because someone enjoys button punching doesn't mean they suck at the game, those two ideas don't go together.

And as a side note, all of you hoping that button and TPC will be separate in online play, you must not follow any game EA makes that closely, I have no doubt the two will play each other in ranked games.

Seriously, the button pushers can have their own online league. It's just not the same game if you're pushing buttons. You take an element away, you simplify throwing punches, it requires less execution, and it gives the advantage of having less to think about. EA had years to consider this and they made the decision to go without buttons, now they backtrack and in the process risk ruining the online game. There's a reason they keep saying "although we prefer/recommend TPC...";it's a better, harder game with TPC. Unless they make it a slight disadvantage to use buttons (assuming equal skill level) on online mode, it's not going to work.

Wait wait.. let me get this straight. Just because it's faster and more accurate to use buttons, all of a sudden it doesn't take thought to play the game.

So, it's impossible to think fast enough to know what you're doing with button presses. Do you hear yourself? I'm not trying to bash you, but that just makes absolutely no sense.

I am in the TPC camp...but I have to be honest, I may switch over. The TPC is KILLING my controller. I can already tell it is a little more loose than it was 2 weeks ago. I am a hardcore COD player and I need my sticks tight.

The more I think of it EA is really missing the boat to keep interest going in this fine game no DLC intil September no DLC Boxers ?
I mean with Madden , NHL and NBA coming up for release soon FNR4 may sadly get lost in the the shuffle.

I told you guys and I only use my older controller and I try to be careful with the sticks but its near impossible to control when you gotta move or block quick ect.
So I will checkout buttons if I still have the game then.

I seriously hope they patch in a filter feature on what control scheme you want to face. Other wise I won't be playing this online come September.
totally agree with u. i dont want to play against button people. stick only.

i dont think they are patching stamina if they are adding the slider. which means online will be same. at least thats what i took from the statement.

Depends on what area of a hooker you would use to redeem them.

The first DLC will be out in about 4 weeks. The second will be out in December.

Big difference with the head hooks and head uppercuts.

Yeah, but those are more easily blocked anyway.

The big problem is body hooks/uppercuts, and those aren't any harder with TPC than with the buttons.

I'm still wondering about this stereotype about if you play with buttons, you're a button masher. What about the people that strategically use buttons? I never button mash.
Whatever you do, don't give constructive criticism or say anything negative about Madden video games! It seems to be the equivalent of a felony...

I'm still going to use TPC..dont care, even if I think that face button haymaker punching is delporable.

                              Hope everyone is happy now.

Check out the editors note in this article.

"Just as a small editor’s note (an editor who’s also a professional videogame reviewer), the Total Punch Control system mapped to the right analogue stick is slick, accurate and devastating when used skilfully.
Anyone pining for button control integration in Fight Night Round 4 is simply not a very good gamer and should perhaps try something a little less testing… like waggle-friendly Punch out!! on the Nintendo Wii."
