The pick and roll is flawed in 2k9

No matter what, even when i lower the screen success down to 0 the defender will in all liklihood run into the screen. Never under, and rarely smoothly over.

I even tried telling my defender to sag, he still finds his way into the screen and the player defender the screener almost always goes on the otherside of the screen opening up the pick and pop through directional passing. Very annoying considering my cousin has Rasheeds release point mastered.

Now I could hold the p&r myself, and i usually do but i often have to decide if i want to be exploited by i high screen and roll or an off-ball screen because my cousin does both at the same time.

And if all else fails, he blazes down court, gets two the freethrow line and kicks it out to Sheed at the 3 because my bigs ALWAYS sag into the paint leaving their man wide open.

I beat him, but these tactics piss me off because the A.I plays like 'Radio'.

The screen success slider is for players coming off a screen.

The P-n-R has been a money play in 2K games for as long as I can remember.

And it is money in NBA for real:

1. Lakers
Kobe & Gasol do it a lot, Kobe would get a easy jump shot, and Gasol would roll and always make a layup/dunk 8 times out of 10.

2. Cavs
James and Big-Z, always frees Z up for a mid range jump shot.

3. Magic
you know how good they are at Pick n Roll / Pick n Pop.

4. Celtics
Rondo and Garnet, Pierce and Big-baby...

And so many teams using it, it's just so effective and easy comparing to some superstar isolation.

So I think it totally makes sense of how Pick and roll works in the game.

No, it makes no sense that you can not tell your defender to go under the screen instead of mindlessly running into it.

It makes no sense that you cant tell your big to play the penetration and sag back instead of playing the shot EVERYTIME and leaving the pick and pop open.

It makes no sense that even with the most lowly of screeners, you can rarely successfully go over the screen.

I understand its impact in real life, its because there are threats that demand you play the pick and roll a certain way. But in the game, even a Luke Ridanor and Johan Petro P&R would be defended as if it were Stockton and Malone.

So I think it totally makes sense of how Pick and roll works in the game.

Not at all since it's an automatic dunk on the roll whether I'm using Kobe and Pau or Mardy Collins and Jerome James.

I don't get how you guys could use the pick and roll. Every pass I throw whether it's a pick and pop or pick and roll gets intercepted. I get seriously 10+ turnovers due to him catching the ball as soon as I throw it. It's not even like he's in between both guys stealing the passes. He's really the on ball defender and happens to press square everytime I'm about to pass and as soon as the ball leaves my hand it's caught by the defender. I am playing a human opponent by the way. Also, this isn't only on the pick and roll. It's throughout the entire game. Any passing situation it usually gets picked off. It's not wild passes across the court either. He just happens to spams the square button trying to reach in and he just so happens to press it as soon as I pass so he jumps in the way and grabs it. I wouldn't have mind if he spammed square in 2k8, but in 2k9 that lame stealing animation is automatic turnover if the ballhandler is terrible, and if he could keep the ball you can't do anything with it because the animation takes over and you can't control your guy.

I prefer to just throw an alley after the pick and cut to the basket. Of course, that would depend on how congested the path to the hoop is.

Pared you are a smart dude but man you out-think yourself more than anyone I've ever seen on a message board.

Yeah, the D sucks, the rotations, the foot planting, the physics, the passing, etc.

Bottom line is that whatever the series of smaller issues may be it amounts to a big man rolling to the hoop for an automatic bucket damn near every time.
