    A comment about Presentation

I don't mean to beat a dead horse, however, the lack of change in presentation this year has really irked me and I would like to know Adam or any other developer's explanation for why EA hasn't fully utilized the ESPN license the same way 2K Sports did for their titles.

Mr. Sanner candidly pointed out in his review that NCAA 10 lacked innovative commentary, little use of Erin Andrews, little differences (in terms of excitement and commentary) between the National Championship, national TV, and regional TV.

Why has presentation consistently been left stale for the entire franchise? If EA can't inject more commentary from Nessler, Herbstreit, and Corso, why not have a 2nd commentary crew added on? Why aren't the games featured in an ESPN style broadcast (ABC for the "Game of Week", ESPN for national, ESPN2, ESPNU, and ESPN+ for regional games). O, and if it's the "Game of the Week", then act like it's the "Game of the Week" for Christ sakes! Fowler in the studios providing weekly highlights ala Chris Berman for NFL 2k5? Bands on the field for halftime?

I don't mean to rant (NCAA 10 is an OK game). Nevertheless, I find it nagging that these minor additions (including dynamic crowds and crowd noise) fail to be addressed.

If it's a memory problem, then could these add-ons just be downloaded later on? Please help me understand

O, and by the way Teambuilder keeps freezing when I try to update my schools.

All this just seems like nit picky stuff that really doesn't matter. I could careless about the commentary. 99% of the time I block it out anyways because i'm focused on playing the game. Just like I block it out when watching sports on tv.

The game is a lot better than just okay. The game is way better than last years game. Just seems like some people will find any little thing to bitch. This was even going on before the game was put out really pathetic.

I wouldn't say it's nitpicking as much as it's the realization that if 2K was able to do it ,while having good gameplay, on weaker consoles, why can't EA capture all of that now? We know it's possible, we've seen it. Why can't we have it again?

While I'd love to have some actual presentation and atmosphere in this game, it's probably something EA used a focus group to determine that people don't really care about, like the D-1AA schools. Why waste time on that stuff if only small percentage will even appreciate it?

It sucks, but EA is never going to fully integrate the ESPN license like 2k. They even kind of stated so when they got the license. It was more about a partnership than slapping ESPN logos and presentation in a game.

Its not nitpicking...Presentation is what keeps this game from getting a near perfect score! And they have had the ESPN license for 4years...all i have to do is point to NFL 2K5...Weaker console...less disc space....less memory and RAM.....PS3 has Blu-Ray 50GB....The MOST powerful system and we can't fit in a decent presentation? Not even glamorized cut scenes???? C'mon!!!

I believe in the past (need verification) they made a response akin to "We want to have our own unique presentation, not ESPN's presentation"

            Well, frankly "their presentation" sucks

I realize everyone has different preferences that they would like to see implemented. I just wish EA would let niche users like I at the very least be able to download "a second commentary crew" or "added presentation" just like I'm able to add teams through teambuilder"

I believe EA's FIFA actually allows users to download bi-lingual commentators.

2K's college football game was bad, but it was a very long time ago. How many years has EA done NCAA and consistently missed the mark? This has been unrealistic, robotic football for a long time. All in all, its been an uninspired franchise.

Dead horse alert: they paid for the luxury of coasting when they got the NFL and NCAA exclusive licenses. They know you can't go anywhere, so why expend a lot of effort trying to make you happy?

Just to add my .02 here FWIW. I played the demo and before hand I planned on purchasing the game. But, the exact same pre-game show (with a little revamped polish, band formations, updated graphics) had me disappointed. Then when the game started I got bored within a few minutes because I heard the exact same commentary and unrealistic crowd noise that was in 09. By halftime I was bored out of my mind. This was the primary reason I skipped on NCAA 10, I won't get into the secondary reasons on this thread.
Sad, because I was really looking forward to buying this game.

Yea but I think if they had the financial resources to make a newer one...it would be VERY good!

But you don't know that for sure. The VC now is not the VC of old. Just look at MLB or how much has gone unchanged in their NHL and NBA franchises. Yes I know Kush used to handle the MLB and NHL games but VC took over this past year.

                            Re: A comment about Presentation

I like the new version but within seconds I felt like I was getting more of the same as an experience. This is about presentation, and yes it matters.

This is "fantasy" football of a kind, after all.

I enjoy the illusion of being my team's coach/QB/DE and playing the big game -- as in the annual whipping of Georgia in Jacksonville. I play in HD on a nice TV with surround sound. It is a cinematic experience, but you can only watch the same movie so many times. That's what we have here. Two years of the same movie.

The old NFL game had the Berman highlights at halftime, I think. This was great, even if things felt a bit canned and generic. It was as if someone were actually watching your game and it mattered.

This game's lack of occasion has been cited repeatedly here. I played my final '09 game as the NC. I won. It was a big nothing. At least throw some confetti.

How about more game-specific comments at the end. Have the crew pick out some key stats, talk up a player or two. What about some mention of the next opponent in Dynasty.

Say something like a conference highlight show in Dynasty, 2 minutes or so, that you can access once the week is advanced. Show the highlights (like the ones that run at the end of the games) and have the host mention the score and the team's conference ranking. AI can handle that, this we know.

                            Creativity is key.
