    Anyone else cool with auto-naming?

I went ahead and started a Dynasty with the random names for 3 reasons:

    1 I can't wait!!!

2 Since by the start of the second season the NCAA rosters are already no longer realistic, what's the diff if you start out with "fantasy" players.

3 My teambuilder teams I might use (if they ever add the team color accessories) are all fictional so there goes realism anyway..

I have never done this before but now that I have 2 kids under 2 years old my gaming time is scarce and I don't want to wait for rosters. I have found it fun to go in and edit some players here and there and create a new alternate universe. It is nice to not have to roll my eyes if Tim Tebow leads the NCAA in passing yards...because he's not Tim Tebow, he's Danny Davis.

Also, if I use imported rosters on Madden, I don't have to cringe when Dez Bryant comes in with dreds and rated 67 OVR....because he's not "Dez Bryant" anymore.

Anyone else playing with auto-named rosters and enjoying it?

I have always played with auto names....I dont know over 85% of the real player's names anyway in the NCAA so it doesnt matter for me as long as the teams play similar to their real likeness, Im fine with it.

Also, once the season goes a few years its all academic anyways

I'm the same way. I do like to enter in the names of the key Texas A&M players, but that's it.

Once the rosters are done I'll use them whenever I start a new dynasty.

For the time being it's very entertaining to play in the alternate universe that I created.

I always start a dynasty before the rosters are out and sim to the 5th year when all my players are the ones that I recruited and go from there. Once the rosters are out, then I play games that I'm excited about, and start a dynasty. I also wait for the season and try to sim the year true to what actually happens. I wish we could have an option of picking who wins in non-player controlled games...that would save me a ton of time.

Re: Anyone else cool with auto-naming?

If my ONLY option for names in the game was auto-naming, I'd definitely go that route, since I hate seeing/hearing "RB #20" or "WR #80.

But as long as I have real-life rosters available, I gotta have the real names. It's actually a big thing for me. I realize I won't know whether most of them are correct or not. It's just something I gotta have.

But it's cool that they at least provide the auto-name feature for those that prefer that. It's all about providing options.

I need rosters to enjoy the game. If rosters weren't an option I'd go with numbers. I don't need perfect rosters, but I definitely don't want Tim Tebow to be Cory Roberts or some name like that.

Auto is fine. After one season anyway, you start seeing fake names.

I like the real names. I probably don't know 90% of the players names out there, but its helps learn their names when they are kicking your *** in the game. I find it interesting to see how my Fr So develop cuz i follow recruiting on rivals, scout, etc.

Auto-names are better than no names tho.

when we first could i starting editing the names on all the players. It took forever. But now its hard to not play with the real names. I know way too many college players where id be annoyed if a guy like Tim Tebow we Dan Evans or Taylor Mays was Ryan Davis or whatever. If i couldnt have names id just use the numbers, i'm not a fan of a guy having a fake name. I did use generic names for my teambuilder team which i then went and edited the names of the guys that will actually play.

auto naming is cool...after a couple years it doesnt matter...i usually name the players for the team ill use as closely to real as possible and maybe a few "stars" from other schools especially within the conference and call it good.....i could care less about real names otherwise

Re: Anyone else cool with auto-naming?

I started a new dynasty day one with random names. I'll start enough dynasties over the next year to enjoy accurate rosters down the line.

Sometimes I find i enjoy the "auto named rosters" more than the authenticly made one's as I don't have any true expectations of the made up people (I don't care if Sam Jones throws three picks; versus being upset if the fake Tim Tebow does). That was one of my favorite things about NCAA College baseball a few years back.

I usually play two dynasties, one based on real-life rosters and the other based on fantasy rosters. With the fantasy dynasty, I'll use the auto-name feature to get me started, but I will tweak as many rosters as I can, sprinkling in some gems on lower-tier teams, create a few powerhouses, and create players here and there. It's totally fun.

Agreed. It also helps me learn some of the player's in real life. But, in all actuality I'm fine with roster's that are about 85% correct.

I could care less if Army's LG is supposed to be a RS freshman instead of a Sophomore. I can alway's look over the team's I do care about (the SEC mainly).

Another reason I like named roster's is because I import the roster's to Madden. I don't really mind if certain player's have dreadlocks and such. It's really not that big of a deal. But, I do want to draft real player's as much as possible.

One last thing, if you're not using named roster's why import them in the 1st place? I would probably use the hand created ones that the Madden team has made. Just my .02.
