If BYU goes undefeated will they play for the title?

They play OU and Florida State OOC. In conference they play Utah and TCU.

That's a pretty good schedule if ask me. It's better than Utah's schedule from last year.

If OU is Oklahoma than yes they should play for the title. I don't know if they will, but they should.

Even if they beat OU and go undefeated they would have to PRAY for a lot of other things to go their way. Going undefeated isn't enough for a school like them

I think some of the top tier teams would have to have bad seasons in order for BYU to make it to the championship

Only the most hardcore BYU fans I guess. Personally the only reason I have any interest in the game is because it's the first football game in the Cowboys new Stadium

Depends on the other circumstances.

In a year like 2004 where 2 of Texas, Florida, and USC go undefeated, they shouldn't.

In a year like 2006 or 2009? Probably, but not necessarily. If FSU is typical FSU and Oklahoma for some reason is a 6-6 or 7-5 team and BYU squeaks out 5 games while Florida goes 12-1 in a situation like last year and tejas drops a very close road game and avenges the loss in the Big XII CG, I'd have a tough time saying BYU should be there.

If Texas and Florida go undefeated there is no way. However, if BYU ends up being one of two undefeated teams at the end of the year, I feel like they have a good chance.

It's a longshot but I think their schedule this year would finally put one of these mid-majors over the hump if they finished undefeated.

The MWC would have to have a year like it did last season to give BYU more reason. I don't see it cuz I think the conference is going to be slightly down this campaign.

I don't think a MWC conference should ever play in the championship. I would rather watch a one loss SEC school over them. Plus they won't go undefeated.

Like I said, it would matter what the rest of the MWC did and that includes TCU and Utah. The Frogs play at Virginia and at Clemson. If they are as good as the hype suggests they should be able to win those contests despite both games being out of region showdowns. Utah needs to win at Oregon.

If BYU goes undefeated and there are two other undefeated BCS schools we need to look at conference strength and each team's SOS.

When Auburn, USC and Oklahoma finished undefeated several years back it was pretty clear by SOS and conference strength pre bowls that the Sooners and Trojans deserved to play in the BCS CG.

I would hope the same thing happens again this year if BYU or any other 3rd team goes undefeated.

I'm not saying and undefeated BYU team should get in over an undefeated SEC or Big 12 team. I'm just saying that if BYU finishes the year as one of two undefeated teams or the only undefeated team, then they deserve to play for the title.
