Re: Madden NFL 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

I had to download the Cowboys demo as I was at my lady friends house(My Xbox 360-North) and left my gamestop card at my house(xbox 360-South)

    I played 3 games.

    1. Presentation is better than 2K5. They just need a halftime show on par with 2k5. The game actually has some life to it that it has not had before.

    2. It looks like the safties and LB play there hook zones better than they do in NCAA 2010.

If you have played alot of NCAA 2010, You will feel like you are playing NCAA2010 on a slower game speed. If you like NCAA2010
this is it with presentation added. I have not seen the pro-tak kick in yet, so I cant comment on that.

For a Madden game I think most people will like it. This also comes with the same disclaimer for the NCAA2010 game. We wont know the whole story till people start playing it online.

Right now I view this demo as a slightly tweaked NCAA 2010

One thing I am seeing in this game that I see in NCAA 2010 is the cpu gets alot of time in the pocket and when it cant find a anyone open it throws the ball to a WR thats standing next to a DB. Most of the time the Db will just stand and watch the WR catch the ball.

Is there a way to make the Db's react when the ball is in the air ?

we really need to experience the normal game speed to see what this game's true potential is

This is probably an earlier build, because the passing was way off, what normally would have been a bullet pass, floated in the air on a quick out. Spot (lead) passing was slow, I threw to a spot and the ball took 4ever to get there. I'm frustrated, not with the game...I've got to go 2 work! But after a half of play, down 24-0 to the Cards....I Can't Wait! I love the pace, the cut screens are wild, the action is busy...and yes I got a chance to experience a fumble and scramble...Excellent! Tonite I'll work on my timing (as much as the demo will allow) and getting use to the eye candy. Finally... Madden is sheading it's arcade skin, Yes!!!

Re: Madden NFL 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here

              Just played the Steelers-Cardinals Demo...

              The Good:

+Wow, the grass looks amazing. Best I've ever seen in a football game. It's actually green, lol. Good job. Now I hope ALL of the grass in every stadium looks this good, and at all times of day, too. We'll see.

+I really got hit by the pass rush a lot.

+Players have some nice weight to them.

+Control feels great. Feels like a totally different game.

+The overall graphics are the best I've ever seen in a football game. I'm far more impressed than I thought I'd be. Far exceeded my expectations. The player models are outstanding, although Big Ben is too thin, but...

+Passing has a lot of precision to it. I like the general feel of it.

              +Running feels really good.

+I love the blur effects (Depth of Field).

              The Bad:

-Really, REALLY disappointed with post-play. I hope it's a glitch and not made intentionally, but they end WAY too quickly. I almost have to consider this broken. Because unless this was done to appease the ADHD crowd who has only a split second of patience and has no idea that they can just press 'A', then I find it hard to fathom how this would've been programmed this way on purpose.

-The camera's during post-play are very jittery. This issue was in Madden 08, and it shipped that way. Looks like 2 seasons later we're about to see this mistake ship again. Shame, because they actually fixed this before 09 shipped.

-The other thing that disappoints me with post-play is that the camera just stops following a player all of a sudden and lets him drift off screen. It's a true "WTH?" moment. That's just bad. It gets very annoying especially after a big play happens and you don't even get a chance to see the close up celebration. This is not how it happens on Sunday's. It's painful to watch because in reality they did all of this work on these then completely nullified it all by ruining the timing.

-Not seeing the defender spotlighted after a deflection is a big missed opportunity.

-Depth of field doesn't pop up a lot of times when it should, so you see the raw crowd in spots where you certainly shouldn't and it looks very ugly.

-I notice that the replays don't always pick up at the start, meaning the beginnings of the plays are absent. I hope this is just a demo issue.

              The Ugly:

-The ref conference conditions are broken. The scene pops up in the most absurd times. For example, I did a dive with Willie Parker over the line into the endzone for a TD. Now, CLEARLY that's a touchdown, lol. But the refs came out to confer. Broken.

-Many of the cutscenes don't flow properly. You see stuttering in the polygonal crowd animations, and one scene trying to fight another scene that's attempting to come up. The stars of the game overlay scene often time comes right over a normal scene which is obviously a glitch.

-The big red circle. Beyond unnecessary. Please, let's not do this in Madden 11 and beyond, or at least let people turn it off.

              Overall so far:

Madden 10 is a really good football game. It actually feels like a serious football game for the first time in, oh, 10 or 11 years. The issues I described are all polish issues that I expect to be fixed by next year, I have no hope of that happening with a patch for Madden 10, so I'm not even going to think about it.

It's about time they started making football again, it's been a very long time. I can envision myself playing this one for an entire season until the next one drops. We're back on track.

The non-stop camera flashes in the stands is kinda over-done.

Can you cancel pre-orders made online the same as you can in store? I'm not being a dickhead, I've never pre-ordered or even purchased a game online..

Well I played about 10 games of the demo and the game has improved across the board. The running feels smooth changing directions is alot easier and they added in new jukes also known as the "quick juke burst" they took out the old hop. You really feel the difference between Tony Romo and Eli. The speed difference is stands out Terrance Newman would just blow past everyone after getting a pick. The players are pretty dumb when trying to stop someone after a pick. They take the wrong angle sometimes and other times they do what you would expect. Brandon Jacobs plays like himself and is actually useful he usually runs over DB's unless they go for the legs. You feel the difference in the pocket the giants line will protect you more often than the cowboys's. And the graphics and the dof looks great. But there is no commentary in the demo no halftime show and no post game highlights. Other than that the game is slower and more fluid and feels like watching a broadcast. And there is only one camera angle in the demo.
