Roster share real prospects sounds nice can you explain more ? Ea has this also ?

Im not that impressed by the new players models they look about the same as 2 years ago before last year when they shrunk um and dont get me started on Bucket head goalies yuk plus create a goalie mask is a bad joke do it right or dont do it .
    Knee shots very cool.
Ill hold out for a demo or videos but at least it seems they are building on from last year

Look, I can't have children because of all the slapshots I took to the nuts while playing road hockey in -30 degree weather as a kid up here in Canada.

Okay, that's maybe not the best example to use while trying to defend my manhood, hmm...

        Re: IGN 2K10 preview

Let me just start: nobody gives a flying **** about the Wii version. I'm sorry, that's just the plain truth. It can be the best selling system, but I bet that the number of NHL 2k9 sales for the Wii is lower then the other two console sales. Nobody is buying NHL 2k10 for the Wii if they want a real hockey game. They might as well arcade it out and sell it like that (like an 3 on 3 NHL game they had on XBL or whatever).

With that said, I guess I really don't give a crap about any of this information they give us. I want the game in my hands to play and that's the only way to judge it. The majority of this is out of game features that I don't care about mostly.

I will say that I'm happy to see stick lifts in. I think that's very important and it's about time. Let's hope the efficiency of them is realistic. And it'll be nice to see a bunch of new animations. And I really like the inclusion of the stumble shot; I haven't played the next gen NHL games extensively but I know on my XBOX version of NHL 2k7, getting pushed around and not being able to shoot because of it was extremely frustrating. Just because a guy bumps me doesn't mean I turn into a bumbling idiot who forgot about his motor skills; it's still an NHL player damn it. So that's nice to hear and it should really add to the flow of the game as it won't be so stop and start and frustrating.

The one 'feature' I think I will use is the ability to play franchise games online. This kind of thing was in Madden 06 called "Spawn Game" and it was pretty cool (though a bit clunky in how to use it). I don't play online too much, but now that I'm getting more into it, if I can find some good, sim-oriented players, it'll be a thrill to play a franchise game against a human opponent who plays the same style that I do but then also be able to play games at my leisure against the CPU and not be tied to the schedule of playing in an online league.

It sounds like they didn't half *** some of these features. You can play with multiple players on your own console and then go online with it too, so that's cool. And though I'm not a fan of focusing on the Wii, I'm glad they didn't half *** that effort either. Though I'm sure the majority of Wii NHL 2k players aren't hardcore into the game (if they were, they would probably have gotten a 360/PS3), it's nice that maybe someone who can't afford a PS3/360 gets to have a legitimate NHL experience.
        NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
        NFL - Buffalo Bills
        MLB - Cincinnati Reds

2K: You know, it's interesting, I think there's definitely that sort of aspect but at the same time we also felt like we were kind of going back to the roots to try to bring back some of the realistic, sim-style hockey. We wanted to make the game something that's definitely accessible to people -- something you can sit down and play with your buddies, but at the same time I think it also plays a really good game of hockey this year. We've done a ton of work just trying to make the game look better, play better, feel better. We've done a ton of animations to improve the skating engine, to improve the goalies, to improve stick-handling and to improve the controls in general.
Love it. I had a good feeling VC would step up big time. Can't wait to play this game. The animations overall were pretty nice year but hearing that they improved the one's for skating is fantastic.

The problem was they took too long to play, diving to block shots in 2k9 was pointless because it took your player a good full 10 or more seconds just to dive. 2k9's skating animations weren't even all that bad, its the total over the top use of momentum thats the problem. So hope thats not the case this year.

Ice friction helped with momentum problems. If they got rid of the weird animation and put more in then I think this game will be better in the animation department. Even last year I thought it was better than EA's, but I love the way that the player models look. The one of Joe looked great. I want to see a goal video and see the 5 man hugs. I will be very please.

I agree sounds like they touched up the skating by having some new animation. I am pumped big time!

Sure ice friction helps but doesn't really solve the issue. I liked alot of 2k9's subtle animations, I just felt a handful of them took too long to complete usually in turn leaving you or the AI completely out of position.

I agree though the player models themselves are a huge improvement. Not really feeling 2k's goalies (something about them just feels off to me) but its not the end of the world either, I think I can deal if momentum and AI is fixed.

I think they will fix those things, but if they don't you always have the other game. I just love the presentation in this game better. Especially after I scored a goal at my arena.

Hope so, would be great to be able to enjoy both this year.

It would be nice but I can't get used to that skill stick. It's not just in hockey that it bugs me, I don't like fight night for the same reason. Yet in UFC I'm gradually learning to adjust to it. Go figure, may have to give it a longer try this year.

Really? Just think of it as an actual hockey stick and ya should have an easier time. Want to do a toe drag? Simply curl the right stick to one side and back. Snap shot? Quick tap of the stick forward. Personally the skill stick feels pretty natural, I'd never want to go back to button shooting again after using it. Its actually a good portion of the reason I just couldn't get into 2k8, using buttons for shooting at this point just doesn't feel right.

I can't use buttons at all anymore. I tried in 2K9 but it felt ********.. so I used their "Pro Stick Evolution" and it felt like a bad NHL 09.

I like a lot of things about the 2K hockey series, but a more streamlined control system would be nice.

Yeah, buttons are a thing of the past when it comes to shooting in hockey games. I would really like to see passing controlled more by the analog stick as well, maybe by using a modifier. I honestly hope the controls are the same in 2K10 as they are in 2K9, just smoother. The scheme itself is fine, just a bit clunky with the feel.

I'd rather they do away with the clunky one on one dekes from 2k9 myself and just bite the bullet and copy EA's. And move the poke check back to a button, might help to cut down on the 10000 tripping calls a game. Pro evo is serviceable but you're right, its not half as smooth and the dekes/stick movement feel fairly limited.
