After a couple games I've finally won 14-3 with the Steelers on All-Madden. Scored on a pick-6 and a long drive capped off by a 4 yard pitch to Parker. The game is pretty solid you really have to play sort of conservatively if you are going to win you can't go deep every play which I like! I really enjoy the fixed Counter run, it was garbage in 09 but it's fixed now. Can't wait for the real game, it's going to be even better.

Also can't wait for online idiots going to try to go deep every play with the Pats, gonna get intercepted all day.

For someone that doesn't want to bash EA, you seem to keep putting up and finding videos of very random negative plays.

I had a play like that happen to me yesterday while I was Jacobs and getting tackled about to hit the ground on my butt,somehow magically I am able stand back and fall forward.

Please tell me that they have fixed the animation where the the receiver jumps for an over the shoulder catch and the trailing DB jumps with him, then latches on to his back -- and then magically, both guys elevate another foot in the air as if the jumped again.

It looks really really bad and happens quite a bit, especially in the endzone on fade routes

I was loving this demo the first 5 or so times I played it, but there are still old issues and a couple new ones that are really bugging me as I continue to play it.

-The pass coverage still seems fundamentally broken. It's nice that guys actually press at the line now (most of the time), but they immediately give the guy the inside route and let him run crazy across the middle. If you don't press, it seems like they give the guy a permanent 5 yard cushion, and sure enough they run wild all over you.

-The zone still does not work properly. Instead of guys actually covering the receiver that comes into their zone, they just stay rigid in their pattern until the ball is thrown and then make a play on the ball. They basically ignore the receivers most of time.

What defenses do you guys have success with? It seems like you can't go all out man, so (like I had to do with the last Madden) you just have to put everyone in zone and hope that the defensive pattern happens to much up with the offensive one. It's very frustrating that it's so unreliable. And to top it off, it seems that the CPU plays perfect pass defense. They press at the line and hold my guys there, and when they do release they are actually running slightly ahead of my receiver on their routes. Clearly the potential is there for the AI to play competent defense (even too competent), so why the heck does it only happen for the CPU and not my CPU teammates??

-Minor gripe that's been mentioned: The over the shoulder catch is an okay addition, but it happens way too often and in the wrong instances. You don't need to be showing off your new animations by having it trump the more logical animation 90% of the time. If I'm facing the ball, put your hands up and catch it, don't turn and make a more awkward catch for no reason.

These are really my biggest problems right now. My other gripes are minor so I'm gonna stop here. The broken secondary AI basically killed Madden 09 for me. I've gone from 'can't wait' when I first played the demo to 'hmm, i don't know' now

the regular demo with the 1 minute quartes isn't up till next week. Only the 360 Gold Members got it early.

Anybody know what button it is to swat passes? I was pressing the A button while I was playing safety and it wasnt working.

Fatigue is actually well done in my opinion. Yesterday I was playing and the Steelers put together a 12 play drive that was all runs and Moore got 2 of the 12 carries due to Parker being taken out for fatigue.

The good news this year is that there is a fatigue slider so if fatigue is over/under done in your opinion, then you can adjust accordingly.

agreed. at least it works this year and has an impact...i'm just wondering what impact it would have on ratings and matchups. 70 guy with 50% fatigue up against an 80 guy with 100% fatigue for example. how does that affect the matchup and ratings?

Those are head scratchers. Let's hope it only happens on a rare occasion.

i dont like how the camera is zooming in when a tackle is almost over. i think ea is trying to destroy our eyes for no reason. my eye is paining me right know because of zoom bs that happen when i make a wrap up tackle. i love the game but the zoom bs that happen on wrap up tackle is killing me. it happen way too fast.somebody may file a law suite if ian/ea dont do something about it.

One tiny observation:

Player stats should show up after EVERY play, not just big plays.

I found with W. Parker, his run stats only showed up after runs more than 5 yards, but not after runs of less than that.

I think, like CBS, they should show up all the time.


Just a minor annoyance.

You sound like Napoleon Dynamite. Get a new TV. LOL. That is a pretty lame glitch though. Please remember that it is a 1 minute demo. Hopefully these glitches will be fixed. I threw one pass with Roelthisberger that went right through Rolle's chest into Holmes's hands. It was really bad. That has by far been the worst glitch I have seen yet. All in all I still think the demo is pretty solid, but far from perfect. I wish 2K could still make football games.
