Why not just make the game perfect?

I've done beta testing for BBCF and OOTP X. While I'm not claiming to be an expert or a programmer or anything like that, I can say that I feel I understand what makes a game seem realistic in more than just one aspect. I'd love to make The Show even better so I'm hoping to make a list. I know these lists already exist but I really wanted to keep a running list for myself but saw no point in not at least posting to the forums here.

This game plays beautiful. But there are still items left to be desired. The actual in-game play, with the right sliders, is damn near perfect.

Here is a list of other things, mostly outside of the actual gameplay, that I'd love to see the SCEA team implement.

    GAMEPLAY
-Allow certain pitchers/hitters to be effected by nerves/confidence more. Carlos Zambrano comes to mind. And note too, that playing poorly is not the only thing that can get you off your game. Big Z comes into opening day a train wreck most seasons (Tiger fan living in Chicago so I've seen plenty of his games from a non-biased standpoint). What about a player who had a "death in the family" which could make him perform worse or better (Brett Favre)?

-Let the AI remember a hit batsman. This might already take place but it would be cool to know if there was ever true intention behind a wild pitch.
***Don't go overboard on this ala EA Sports.***

    -Defensive player collisions.

-The occasional "Oh crap, I totally lost the flight of the ball" moment for an outfielder (more frequent in certain stadiums and/or lighting conditions). Also misreads in which the OF breaks in or out at the wrong time (rare).

-More dropped balls by fielders (within reason)

-A variety of pickoff moves to be used to perhaps setup a baserunner. Again, don't get EA on us.

-A better "pickle" system for the baserunner.

-Balls getting caught underneath a fence or other element in the field of play.

-A player coming up limp running the bases or in the field in which he is noticeably hurt and in some cases, cannot even continue the play and could be tagged out etc.

    FRANCHISE
-First and foremost, while it is great to have all of the roster transactions in the game, it is essential to allow for the AI teams to make call-ups based on performance and NOT just injuries. This is the only big game breaker for me at this point.

-AI MUST take into consideration stats along with player ratings. Even previous season stats should be taken into account ala OOTP.

-Do away with overalls etc. and just give us basic scouting reports. We should see "studs" sucking and nobodies making a name for themselves. Other teams should view players differently based on their scouts.

-More player interaction ala OOTP where players get upset if certain players are traded or if the team is doing poorly they want to be traded or refuse to sign a contract extension (and test FA).

-Who am I? The manager, owner, GM? All 3? Please, let us choose a more defined role all with certain limitations on gameplay (with the feature to play normal like how it already is too though!).

ATMOSPHERE - While the atmosphere is great in this game, they could still do more:

-Cut scene to a pitcher who had a great performance (or bad) the night before.

-A rookie MR called up sitting in the bullpen awaiting his first appearance.

-A player who may be playing the last game of his career getting a curtain call.

A RARE player/coach fued in which the team could suspend the player.

-Better in-between pitch statistics shown (like how a player hits with an 0-2 or with RISP, etc.)

-Quit having my pitching coach run out after EVERY 1st walk. What is he saying seriously? Every time? If he notices something great, but c'mon. Would be cool to actually be able to say things to players or to hear the coaches themselves offer advice in RTTS.

-More game-to-game and season-to-season stats like "Ichiro is now a hit away from his 10th 200 hit season!"

There are tons more but these are just off the top of my head. Honestly, I'd just love to see the AI get smarter with their rosters and I'd be a happy camper. I'll keep adding to this throughout the weekend as I watch more games and notice more things that make me say, "wow, that would be cool to see."

Why not make the game perfect? Because then you wouldn't have to buy it in yearly installemnts.

Alright alright, I'm sorry. It's just rough living in Chicago when Detroit is playing them. I let me emotions get the best of me. Good luck to the Sox today and tomorrow!

Yeah, I hear you about the yearly installment thing...but I still think it wouldn't matter all that much. They could even just make the game a yearly subscription thing if they wanted to make sure everyone paid each year. Sell a base for $100 and renew it each year for $40 or whatever.

          thats a nice list.

personally id like to see more dramatic plays at home plate especially when the game is on the line.

want to see managers thrown out of the game.

most may not want it, but the very rare fan interference.

not getting booed at the allstar game when played in opposing leagues park.

that happens in 09, although the cameras do not show the fan running...just has the announcers talking about it and showing the players watching.

Perfect is a made up, unattainable goal in the world of video games.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I would like to see a better minor league system. Maybe AAA all the way down to Low A. 4 minor league teams would be great for all the minor league players. I would like to see a top 100 prospects list every year from the minors, and or top 10 prospects from each team. It would def make a franchise more realistic and exciting.

This definitely needs fixed for next year during the Manager Mode. There are numerous times when I play that mode, and I feel like the CPU is still going to do what it wants (steal 2nd when it wants, bunt, etc). They should include an "assisted" manager mode or something.

As far as owner mode, maybe take what 2k attempted to do, and have it where you are just that, an owner. You don't manage the game, you can only watch. (After all, you are only the only). Things like that would be nice.

I would REALLY like to have a fake throw button. That'd make fielding a lot better.

Also, for RTTS pitcher, can we be able to delete a pitch, even if we have to use new points to make it better.

I like that idea. I would like to see an owner mode where you wouldn't have to worry about meeting any franchise goals. This way you could stick with the same team for as long as you want!

This game has already done that for me. I do NOT plan on buying next year's game. UNLESS.... I can import my current franchise.

So if the game was Perfect and I could import my current franchise, then I would still buy it for the graphics/animations upgrade.

How do you guys deal with the fact that the AI teams will never ever call up a player based strictly on performance?

Maybe it just bothers me too much...
