Why is everyone so down on career mode? If done right this will be hands down the greatest mode in a basketball videogame ever.

Re: NBA 2K10: Draft Combine First Look (IGN)
I am not really that excited about career mode, but it has great implications for a guy like me. It means that the create a player became something they had to step up, and chances are, the game will play better with player lock, since they are focusing on the individual aspect of the game. Funny, I only play with player lock, but I don't really care that much about career..hehAssociation/Franchise guys...Are you excited for the Draft combine? I am big on association and I am not at all excited about this...maybe I am missing something. I am not all that concerned with 'career' mode. I would rather be able to create an entire draft class for each year in association and download into the game but it doesn't look like this is what it is...again, am I missing something?Comment

You must not like the RTTS mode much huh? That mode changed the landscape of baseball video game modes and I really do think it rivals online mode as far as mlb '09 goes. Theres no reason why this mode cant do the same for 2k.Comment

Re: NBA 2K10: Draft Combine First Look (IGN)
has anyone considered that the 39 overall might not be his attribute rating but that hes ranked as the 39th best player at the combine at that point?
just sayin, i think people get hung up on a number attached to a players name. if kobe plays exactly the same in 2k10 as he did in 2k9 but his overall says 79 instead of 99 there would be a 30 page thread arguing about it.Comment

Agreed, if 2k pulls this off as well The Show did I will be very happy. Especially because it's being taken online. I think this is the future of sports gaming.Who Dat!Comment

Re: NBA 2K10: Draft Combine First Look (IGN)
This is what it is I'm pretty sure. It says he's completed 1/6 games. It says he has 1752 skill points in his balance. I'm pretty sure 39 OVR is his default rating or a very early rating and he has yet to increase his attributes with the skill points. Looks like he's just done the drills, got the skill points, but hasn't really boosted his attributes at all.[NYK|DAL|VT]

Re: NBA 2K10: Draft Combine First Look (IGN)
sorry, i didnt look at that pic, i stand corrected. the point i was really trying to make though was that people make too big of a deal over overall ratings, its just a number, just because a player is 99 doesnt mean they are perfect or because they are 73 or lower that they are scrubs and useless. either way im glad 2k has redone their rating system. hopefully the insider has actually done his job this offseason.Comment

Re: NBA 2K10: Draft Combine First Look (IGN)
I think the concept is great. And I've been a huge advocate for having a Superstar Mode in an NBA game, so I'm really glad to hear we're going to end up with some variation of one.
What's not cool, is charging for something that could EASILY be put on the disc. I don't want to hear "It's so the fans can preview the game early!", because every year we get a demo and the demo serves that purpose fine. Negative points 2K. Nickle and "dimeing" your fans seems very EA'ish.Comment

Re: NBA 2K10: Draft Combine First Look (IGN)
The big question is will it be like a superstar mode, Or an actual career mode for that matter? Will we be able to get things like endorsement deals, do certain objectives/actions off the court, and control our player and him only when playing a game?Last edited by B-Wills; 08-01-2009, 12:22 PM.Miami Heat Basketball

It is on the disk. The only difference is that your player with have a special patch on his jersey if he goes through the 'demo' mode.I think the concept is great. So yes, it is for the hardcore fans to preview the game early. Or at least the new big feature.Comment
