I think that's a case where fun and realism collide. :-) Other than my own picks, I'm mostly interested in seeing who drafted what at the END of the draft. Simulated delays for an algorithm that decides on a pick in a fraction of a second isn't fun to me.

I've noticed that you can turn the salary cap off in Franchise. That hasn't been an option for a while, right?Whatever you do, don't give constructive criticism or say anything negative about Madden video games! It seems to be the equivalent of a felony...Comment

The top two there made the playoffs. Quinn being 5th in picks makes this incredible. The Browns are also a 3rd place wild card. Which would be the first time ever a that 2nd wild card came out of a division with a 14-2 team. Check that on wikipedia if you think I missed one.Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10: Franchise Mode Preview
In a lot of cases, people hear things the way they want to hear it and repeat what they want to interpret. This was a prime case... I've seen what you saw many times, but it never came from EA.
There are people out there still insisting you can build your own draft classes from scratch too, because they heard "hand made" or "custom" draft classes (meaning developer designed rather than randomly generated), and I've actually had arguments about it in which the person INSISTS Josh Looman said to them PERSONALLY at E3 or something that they can build their own draft class.
The only miscommunication I can see is if when he says 'Within' Franchise Mode, he just means 'In' Franchise Mode. But when he says 'Within' Franchise Mode, it can lead people to believe that he is talking about after you already started your franchise.Last edited by Stacks; 08-02-2009, 10:02 AM.PSN: SteelStacksComment

Re: Madden NFL 10: Franchise Mode Preview
please don't say computer teams only take 10 to 15 seconds for each draft pick in the game. Thsi is a killer to me. I want a realistic draft with teams taking their time, at least a minute or so. What's the problem witgh extending the picking time? The user can advance each pick.
Come on EA, please say it ain't so! 10 or 15 seconds for each pick? That makes about 6 minutes for the WHOLE first round!! Where's the fun and realism in that??
The best scenario for all is a setting to stretch out the CPU teams choices. I agree that it would be more immersive for some peeps, but we should have an option to control the time it takes.XBL Gamertag: hoos4974

So with salary cap off, a person can create players and not worry about losing them to free agency because of running out of money? Sweet! I'm not saying that I'll have a murderous whip or anything (that would be no fun), but it cuts down limitations. In old Madden games, if you ran out of money and you turned salry cap off, you had to quit Franchise Mode.Whatever you do, don't give constructive criticism or say anything negative about Madden video games! Chase, an editor from this very site, wrote in his E3 blog that you CAN edit player ratings Within franchise mode. Go to the E3 forum and look it up. He wrote it in his review of Madden 10 when he was there. I mean, he's an editor on this site so shouldn't I believe what he tells me?

Re: Madden NFL 10: Franchise Mode Preview
The REALISM is in the fact that most people (me included) don't have the time or patience for each round to take 30+ freakin minutes!!!! OUCH

Great info Steve! That's what I like about this site, when you need to find info on your favorite sport, this is THE SITE PERIOD! My question; can you roll over your 09 profiles? I'm trying to save some time because league play for me starts Aug 16! Outside of the graphics & presentation upgrades, the franchise foundation is the same as b4. Which is fine with me, because gameplay and on line franchise was my only concern. As long as the salary cap option is there, I'm good!Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10: Franchise Mode Preview
Sacks given up are high, rush TDs are low, Colston's catch number is high...which leads me to suspect that the same problem exists within the sim stat engine...
The CPU controlled teams pass a bit too much, run too little and the backup RBs don't get enough carries...
Questions:
Do the team totals for rush and pass attempts look realistic?
Do the backup RBs get carries as a result of substitution (fatigue) and not injury?
Can you affect the above with the Coach Philosophy Run / Pass sliders or the RB1 / RB2 sliders?
Overall, looks like a slightly less broken sim engine...Comment

Re: Madden NFL 10: Franchise Mode Preview
I guess the sacks given up were a little high but you guys have been begging for less time in the pocket anyways
and I thought that for an online franchise you could use any amount of ppl and there would be 32 teams no matter what and the others would be cpu controlled? how come there is options for max users 2, 4, 6, 8, etc.
I remember it being said that you could be in an online franchise all by yourselfComment
