Franchise mode only 10 years?
I heard that you can only play 10 years into your franchise before it ends. Now granted that I never actually played beyond 4 seasons into my franchise, but I think that 10 years is a bit too short for the hardcore gamer. Wasn't it like 30 seasons in the previous games?Tags: None -

Re: Franchise mode only 10 years?
Yea i think your right. 10 for online, 30 for offline.
I usually don't get passed 4-5 seasons but that was in previous maddens. If this game is as good as its suppose to be and i can play it for more than a couple months before i get sick of it, then i might be able to get a long dynasty going.
10 seasons in Madden is not long, especially if you play at least 1 game a night like i do. I can get through 5 seasons in a couple month but thats when 09 started to get boring to me so i hope M10 lives up to its hype.Comment

Re: Franchise mode only 10 years?
ME!!!
Think about it though ppl, if you play 1 game a day, it would take you 160 days to play all your regular season games for 10 seasons. That doesn't include playoffs or draft or anything. 1/2 a year. Madden 11 will be out before most ppl finish their first online franchise.
Offline is still 30 years for the simmers.Comment

Re: Franchise mode only 10 years?
I imagine there's others like me who, in addition to a franchise in which you play the games, plan on running a franchise where you're just the GM. I did that with Madden 2000 on the PS1, using the 49ers. It was cool not playing a single game and just making cuts, trades, drafting, etc., and seeing the team progress year to year and the various players that ended up on the team. It's easy to get 30 years in that way. It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

Re: Franchise mode only 10 years?
I'd love to play all 30, it's just that after a while, Madden franchises typically fall apart. Due to poor CPU AI etc, eventually your team becomes too good, games are too easy etc.
With user mods, progression editing, house rules and 3rd party drafting logic, I think my longest on the PC version was 19 seasons before the balance started to significantly shift in my favor.Comment

Re: Franchise mode only 10 years?
I did that the most recently on the PC. Not sure if you meant simming games or cpu v cpu though - I did cpu v cpu. Definitely an interesting experience and surprisingly rewarding when it all comes together. "I drafted that guy!".I imagine there's others like me who, in addition to a franchise in which you play the games, plan on running a franchise where you're just the GM. Re: Franchise mode only 10 years?
I was going to say, back when Madden was really good (PS2 for me) I would easily put in 15 years or so. I would typically draft my "franchise" QB in year 2 or 3 of my franchise and then play out his career. I think the last one I did that was in the early 2000's that kept a pretty extensive list of Super Bowl results, MVPs etc. I think it was the 2nd Madden to show up on the PS2.
If Madden 10 is close to that in keeping track of History it gets really fun in that you can see how your Dynasty compares to teams in history and how your team can rise and fall etc. To get through that many years I would typically just play the home conference games and the big match-ups like Monday Night. I would even wait to play in the Playoffs until the Conference Championship game to assure it wasn't a run to the Super Bowl every year.... was a lot of fun.
I only hope that Madden 10 is close to this because I have had NCAA 10 for a week and have played 2 games in my franchise.... just the status quo there.Comment

Re: Franchise mode only 10 years?
The good old days. Madden 2005 was the first and last time I enjoyed both playing the game and working franchise. I played it year round and played every single game of my franchise.I imagine there's others like me who, in addition to a franchise in which you play the games, plan on running a franchise where you're just the GM.
