Will they ever add live rosters?

Or does anyone care.
To me, this is a feature that is about 3 years past due.
Here is what I am talking about...

I get the game next Friday, start my Franchise.
By week 5 of the real NFL, let's say a starting QB goes down for the year (i.e. Brady and Cassell) and I have that team to play on my schedule.
If I have the feature on, when I play them, I am facing Matt Cassell.

With Madden (and I assume it is the same this year), I would have to scrap my franchise, download the new roster, start a new one, sim to the game I was at.

Not sure what the difficulty would be, just let the game match the current NFL roster with the game. They can choose to use the real stats or the simulated game stats at that point.

Another thing to that, rosters should be updated real time, not every couple of weeks.
If a basic fantasy football website can have up to the minute rosters/stats surely EA can, especially with the boat load of money they paid to the NFL for the rights.

Agreed, and to add, my leagues do what happens each week in the NFL. So if Brady gest hurt the guy in the league using the Pats must bench Brady until he returns in real life. Easy. Oh and to do this you must have injuries truned off, you wouldn't want a player in the game getting hurt if he's healthy in real life.

This would be a logistical nightmare. Besides, from the moment you start your franchise you are basically in an alternate reality. What's the point of franchise mode if you want every move in real life mimmicked on the game?

What happens to this "add live rosters" feature in year 2?

Sounds like a game freeze waiting to happen.

I don't care about the injuries so much, because it's my franchise. I wouldn't start my whole franchise over just because Brady got hurt, but he was still playing on the game.

Only thing I would like to see with live rosters are free agents and trades that may happen automatically being patched in my franchise. Or at least give me control so I can sign or make trades as they happen. I like to keep my chise as real as possible, but as far as injuries go thats not too big of a concern for me.

But if Russell is traded in week 2, why would you play him the rest of the year???

The only part I see this being a problem is multi-year franchises.
Maybe they can go back to a year only mode.
Not everyone plays the game the same way.
Some are serious, 10+ year franchise guys.
Me? I want to play a game that resembles the current NFL at the time.
I rarely every play beyond 2 years of a franchise.

Unless you play one game a week on Sunday, this really could not work at all. What do you do if you are in week 8 past the trade deadline and real life is in week 4 and a trade happens? The game can't trade.

Also, if I was the Redskins and Colt Brennan was traded for a draft pick, I would not want that to happen in my franchise because Colt will most likely be my starter.

Yeah, i've never really understood the appeal of the Live or DNA thing.

I guess it's cool if you play online all the time, but for franchise it'd be pointless.

Also doesn't it update every week? If so, then that is good enough.

this is actually a really good idea. NBA Live 10 is doing this and what happens is youd HAVE TO FOLLOW THE REAL NFL SCHEDULE. If your the Jets youll have to wait til Sunday to play the Texans. That way youd actually have to deal with what the 2009-2010 Jets had to deal with. It would only be a season though not a franchise.

This can't work in a franchise, unless you're going to turn off all roster moves, aging, progression/regression, draft, etc. Basically, going back to the old "season" mode.

What happens if Cassell was traded in your franchise? What about if Cassell sustained a career-ending injury? It can't work in franchise mode, currently. You would need a franchise that only changes based on actual rosters. Considering the amount of people who cried about OF only going to 10 years, I doubt this will fly.

This I agree with.

I would like the ability to create trades to match real world player movement. Especially when a big name player gets traded or released.

Injuries, they happen, but if there a way to replicate some of these major moves...

How does that help?

I don't want to be the commish or head muckity muck moving players before every game.
I think people are defending how they play franchise mode and I agree, it should stay the same.
But make a mode like NBA Live, call it NFL Live, make you play it Sun - Sat of that week with actual rosters, starters, etc.
So, while you play your franchise with Drew Brees as QB of the Vikings because of some crazy trade you did, you can take a break from that and play the Monday night game with the same starters as the real life teams.
Why is that so hard to comprehend? It would take about 1/2 hour of programming to add to the game.
Who wouldn't want or use this?
