Tone down the effectiveness of the pump fake...
Tone down the effectiveness of the pump fake... Just played ranked 63 "Haulai" and all he did was go to the paint and pump fake until either I or the AI jumped so he could get the easy two. He did this the whole game........... I'm not saying take the pump fake out, but it's clearly over effective which is all a cheeser is looking for. By the way, I'm officially putting "Haulai" on the cheeser hit list. If anyone has the skills to stop the cheesing and beat him let me know about it.....I always wanted to be somebody, but I should have been more specific!Tags: None -

You guys shouldn't be so quick to ask the game developers to bail you out because you can't stop [insert "cheese" move]. There's always a counter to everything unless the other guy is glitching or lagging or w/e intentionally... then at that point you have the right to file a complaint. -

But he can't make the AI stay put on the ground. It is to easy to get bailed out by pump faking and 70% of the time the AI will jump.Comment

Re: Tone down the effectiveness of the pump fake...
I think the pump fake is fine. It's effectiveness (against the AI) can be tweaked with the DEF AWR slider I believe.
But in all reality, if you're playing basketball and someone keeps pump faking, you're probably gonna jump eventually. Ask Courtney Lee. Kobe would pump fake 4-5 times and get him eventually.
Also in the paint, the pump fake should be more effective than on the perimeter. You could always try stripping the guy after the pump fake.

Re: Tone down the effectiveness of the pump fake...
I think the pump fake needs to have a more reward risk thing honestly in the paint. Though it could be user error, why isn't the 3 seconds called? I think that steals should be a more likely outcome with the pump fake. Though Kobe pumped a few times on Courtney, he didn't do it everytime down the court. I think that if the negatives were much higher with it than the positives, it would reduce that unrealistic portion of the game.
I think the concept could be very similar to how you would throw a haymaker. If you constantly threw them without any solid reprecussion, then you would throw them more. BUT if you made it so that if you constantly threw haymakers and didn't land them, it could tire your player out sooner than normally strategizing, you would consider the amount of times you threw them. If you also could get tagged back which would result in an extensive injury that could greatly swing the game in your opponent's favor, you would seriously reconsider the frequency at which you use it.
The pump fake needs to have that risk-reward option that makes it a very beneficial commodity when used, but also a stumbling block when abused. That's how the game of sports goes. Bring different looks and keep the opponent guessuing. Another problem with the pump fake in the paint is the fact that he PIP were higher than normal. Also, there isn't an intentional foul that would work for when a player does commit to the pump but doesn't want the player to score. Lot of wrong withthe pump fake if those simple options aren't apart of the countering.Comment
