I just picked up Madden 2010 (360) today, and the very first thing I did was check player attribute ratings.
What immediately struck me as odd was the speed ratings that EA gave some of the players!
A good example...
OLT - Joe Staley (49ers) has a 75 speed.
This is higher than ALL but 15 QB's in the game.
Higher than 7 HB's in the game.
Higher than 34 FB's.
Higher than 3 WR's.
Higher than a whopping 74 TE's!!
Higher than a staggering 112 LB's !!!
Only 2 to 4 points lower than the speed of 14 CB's!
Higher than 19 safeties.
Now I know Staley is (and should be) the fastest O-Lineman in the game.
But no way is he faster than THAT MANY skill position players.
Also of note:
Patrick Willis is a 90 speed.
According to that, he'd outrun Josh Cribbs (89 spd)
There are 25 WR's with less than 80 speed.
Muhsin Muhammad, Marty Booker, Jason Avant, Amani Toomer, and DJ Hackett most notably.
There are 3 punters who would outrun those WR's! With Brian Moorman at a 90 spd!
The slowest HB in the game is LaBrandon Toefield with a 70 spd.
According to EA, there are 7 DT's and 5 OT's who would beat Toefield in a footrace.
MLB - Nick Griesen has a 61 spd. According to EA, there are an amazing 65 O-Linemen in the game who would beat Griesen in a footrace!
I haven't played many games yet, so I've yet to determine what (if any) effect this has on the gameplay, but does anyone else find this very odd?
