Does this actually happen in Madden 10? Can you draft a guy #1 and he turn out to be terrible? Or a guy in the 7th round that becomes a superstar?

Yes this does happen. Check out 'I Peench''s Franchise Darft/Progression thread.

Yea it is possible. Read the Lions Simmed Franchise...he did a couple drafts and some of the 1st Rds were coming out with like a 56 OVR.

I read somewhere that the created player names aren't linked to one particular set of attributes, so you may draft Joe Blow in year one of your franchise and he turns out to be a gem, but if you start a second franchise he may turn out to be a bust or just an ok player

Not sure if that's true, I restarted my franchise last night after the roster update and in my first franchise i picked up an OLB named Mister Wright (lol) and he went to 95 overall. I got him again last night in my first draft of the new franchise just by chance, and he has the same ratings as in my previous franchise.

EDIT: Also, I picked him up in the 3 or 4 round the first time, and the 4th last night, so it is possible to find great players in the mid to late rounds, unlike in 09.

I still don't fully understand this. Are the (non-NCAA) draft classes not randomly generated?

The Madden draft classes were hand made by the devs. Only the names are randomly generated, save for a few sentimental favorites brought over from head coach like Leron James and Mister Wright.

I've simulated 5 seasons and have yet to have a bust because i've used/abused the scouting system. I've gotten guys in the 4th round and higher that have been as a high as 85 overall. Its actually too easy to get steals now with the scouting system.

He came into the league at a 95over? Or was that after a few seasons or progression?
