NHL 09 Be a Pro: Aaron Wheeler #27

"Wheelz you ready?", I awoke from my day dreaming and put on my Michigan State jersey, tonight we are playing against Ferris State for the NCAA Division 1 Championship.
My name is Aaron Wheeler and I am the Captain and best defenseman of the Michigan State Spartans.

The start of the game started out as fast as a game possibly could, the puck went back to me and i passed it up to Right Wing and good friend Matt Steyer who skated down the ice and took a slap shot at the net which was easily stopped by the Ferris State goaltender, the next 30 seconds was spent in Ferris State territory until they got the puck out and started a passing montage, the second line Left Winger got onto the ice off a line change and skated down the ice to get a rebound goal after 3 shots by the Center and Right Wing. I was scared to go back to the bench, and by the looks of my coaches fire red head he was going to yell at me until my next time on the ice.

The rest of the game stayed 1-0 in favor of Ferris State but I soon changed that when I made a long pass down to Center and good friend Jake Buza and watched as he skated as fast as he could to then lift the puck top shelf and make the score 1-1. 10 seconds later Matt Steyer passed it to my defensive partner who then passed it to me and I ripped a slap shot that went past the blinded Ferris State goaltender to put us up 2-1.

I skated to the bench exhausted with :43 seconds left in the game and watched in horror as the same Ferris state Left Winger who scored the first goal had just intercepted a pass and rocketed past both of our defenseman, the whole building was silent as he skated in 1 on 1 against our goaltender.

I woke up the next morning and felt like dirt, I had worked my butt off to win my first ever Championship but we ended up losing 3-2 in triple over-time over Ferris State. I had finally had a chance to become a Champ and my teammates ruined it, losing that championship was the worst feeling I had ever felt in my life. "Well let's look at the bright side, the draft is coming up in less than a month" I said and went outside for my morning exercise.

    nice start, bro.

ferris state? I've never even heard of them...are they even any good?

Also, did you intentionally have your character blame the loss on his teammates, to make him look like a selfish jerk? because otherwise, it was HIS fault for skating to the bench when he shouldn't have

Hey thanks! Yeah Ferris State has a really good team, they are a college in Michigan. And yeah that's exactly why I did that, i'm making him a selfish young player but once he goes to the AHL the players put him in his place and he becomes less selfish.

Poor, poor Shinder. It seems no matter how godly and popular your BAP was, nobody can spell: Mikko Lethinen.

                  Pretty good start.

Today is the day of the draft and i've been praying and doing every little religious thing I could possibly think of, let's just say I really want to be drafted.

I decided to go outside and walk for a little bit to calm my nerves, I came back in after my walk and heard "With the second round of the NHL draft, the Los Angeles Kings select... Drew Doughty!" I quickly rushed to the TV, thanks a lot to my parents for calling me and letting me know the draft started... only if they had let me know. I was still watching through the second round and I still had not been selected, but it was no suprise to me because I didn't show up anyways so I was expecting to get drafted in the 3rd or 4th round.

It was now the 3rd round and I had recieved calls from 3 teams, they all told me how they were going to draft me this round if they had a chance. The 3 teams who said they wanted me were the Tampa Bay Lightning, Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators. I was hoping that either the Lightning or the Senators would draft me because the Leafs were the laughing stock of the NHL right now.

I was half asleep when I heard "And with the 75th pick of the 2008 NHL draft the Ottawa Senators pick... defenseman from Michigan State Aaron Wheeler!"

When I heard this I went crazy! I was jumping up in the air and doing the stupidest things, I received phone calls from friends, family and the last one I recieved was from number I hadn't seen before. I answered the phone and said "Hello?" the mysterious man said "Is this Aaron Wheeler?" I then said "Yes sir" the mysterious man then told me his name was Tim Murray and he was the GM of the Binghamton Senators, he told me to report to training camp in a week.
