True. My problem is when I have two games. I can't really enjoy either one, because I start wanting what the other game has. So I will stick with 2K and then get EA in th next couple months

i will get 1 game and i was almost sure it would be nhl10 but now... iยดm torn..

still, i would like to know more about board play. EA seems to have got it done pretty well and this is a huge part of any self called NHL sim game

I would be torn if it weren't for NHL 10's atmosphere. The arena, while not as pretty as 2k, just sounds better and the crowds are really awesome.

Plus...scoring with the skill stick is really rewarding to me.

I'm not really torn anymore. Now I'm just anxious to play this game. If all these new sliders are effective and work properly and the Pro Stick is smooth, this game will be the one and only for me. The amount of ways to change how the game plays is simply astounding. I'll take odd looking Goalies and jerky Player Celebrations in exchange for this kind of depth. I'm sure 2K11 will smooth out those issues and others that may exist.

I am sure you will get alot more info in the future blogs. I hear there is quite a few of them that are going to be released. They told me a dozen or so for each game, NHL and NBA. As always, the exact amount is subject to change i am sure. So dont hold me on that, but still getting stuff this in depth i dont think has ever happened in a sports game before.

Sounds like one will be able to create different CPU sliders settings for every CPU opponent, depending on their team's style of play. I'll be interested to see if the strategy settings are available to edit for CPU teams. It's the one thing missing from video hockey, as all teams typically play exactly the same.

It'll be more interesting if it works. 2k9's strategy settings were outright broken. If all these new tweaks (GM personalities, sliders, strat settings) work the game will prolly be brillant. Thats a pretty big IF though imo.

I'm not buying into anything until I see it myself, for sure. But this is something I've been wanting to see in all sports games for years -- the ability to adjust CPU offense and defense strategy. FIFA has it, and it's brilliant in that one is able to control CPU attack speed and how aggressive it plays overall. I've always felt hockey needed it more than other games given CPU strategy is identical for each team. Whereas in football for example, CPU gameplay is dictated to a large degree by individual teams' playbooks.

I agree, thank god for gamefly. I'm hopeful, but don't have enough faith restored just yet to run out and plop the cash down without first renting quite yet.

So after all this 2K developer "talk" you're not totally pumped and this game doesn't own your soul quite yet, is what you seem to be saying. Given the past 3-4 years, I'd call that astute.

Well talk is just that talk. 2k's now talking a good game, now that they've decided we're finally worthy of some actual info. I think raw footage on sim settings/higher difficulty along side the write ups would have gone a much longer way to sway me back, but I won't knock that the're finally saying something at the very least. Yeah it is astute or shrewd I suppose.

We're never going to see higher difficulty, simulation style settings gameplay videos pre-release (especially not from IGN, GameSpot, etc). So I wouldn't hold your breath on that one.

No I fully know that. I meant raw footage from the team themselves to go along with these Dev Insight posts. If Littman can go out of his way to do it why can't Cups or Bish or Shadow or whoever make the extra effort to do the same thing? Its not the end of the world obviously, but it would be a pretty nice gesture.

Doesn't one of the blogs say that teams will have different personalities? will be interesting just how noticeable it will be.

I would think you would be all over this due to all the tweaking possibilities, you may even wait a week before you edit player ratings:wink:

That's why I posted what I did. If the game is truly allowing us to edit CPU gameplay strategy, I would consider that the biggest reason to pick it up. I haven't seen this in any of the PR material for EA's game this year. I play offline only, and I'm not sure I want to spend yet another year of playing 29 CPU teams, all of which play the exact same style of hockey.
