    Miracle comebacks again

Thank God I only rented Madden. Once again, Miracle Comeback AI is back.

You know what I'm talking about.

I'm leading by 10 with 4 minutes left in the game (15 min quarters)

Jason Campbell, who's stunk all game, miraculously makes tons of passes:

    FG

    TD

Then a miracle turnover to give them excellent position for a GW FG in OT.

Sorry, GameFly - I'm not buying this lame excuse for a "football" game.

    I'm sick of monopolies. Period.

    * * *

PS. I thought their menus couldn't get any more irritating or unintuitive.

Umm, with 4 mins left in the game and leading by 10, a comeback seems plausible. Srry bud, up your game.

      Stop defending rubber banding....it exists.

I'm just saying...it's in there. In my experience it's usually in close games. If you're up by a few TD's it's not normally present but if you're up 10 points in the forth, chances are they'll get a boost.

The boosted stats don't bother me as much as the "miracle turnover". That's just WRONG because you can't avoid it if the CPU wants it to happen.

Football is a chess match. So what if the QB was having a bad day before hand. All that matters is the current play that is running. If he gets the proper time and the correct play on any given down he will produce in a positive manner. Even then some people just get dumb luck. In madden the game is based on percentages and there is always a percent, no matter how big or small, that a bad or good play will happen.

Have you ever heard of Jake Plummer? The king of 4th quarter comebacks. He would normally play horrible all day long but manage to pull a come from behind win somehow. I guess Plummer has comeback AI huh...

I trust Ian when he said that there is no comeback AI. I have seen some strange stuff in madden. But IRL I have seen stranger stuff. Anyone remember the Colts vs Texans game the other year...?

A 10 point lead with 4 mins to go is hardly a safe lead. A lot can happen in 4 minutes, especially if (and I'm not inferring that you did) you are running passing plays on offense, and not trying to run clock out to preserve your lead.

I haven't had one comeback like that yet. I have had the CPU cut it to 3 or 7 with only a couple mins to go, but if you run a good offense, you should be able to run the clock out. Especially if you are playing 15 min quarters with a 20-25 second runoff.

                    Re: Miracle comebacks again

If this wasn't possible people would scream bloody murder that the game was broken. I've had this work both ways so far. The other night in my Giants franchise I had Tampa make a last minute drive to steal the game. (I wasn't mad that they had come back to win it, but I was cheesed off that their QB got over 6 seconds on every single play, thats another story though.)

Then last night I am down 23-10 with 1:45 left in the game. Manning leads me down field with some great passes for a TD, I recover the onside kick, get sacked on my first play, quickly call a timeout with 3 seconds left. Snap, hail mary, Smith catches it and runs it to the house. Game over 23-24. And I'm playing on my skill which has apparently put me somewhere between All-Pro and All-Madden after about 10 games.

                      It does, huh?

I just completed a game that the Packers were up 17 to 0 at halftime over the Vikings.

At the end of the third quarter the score is 27 to 13.

The 4th quarter the Vikes score 7 more points and that's it.

All the game does is try to get more aggressive and pass more. You need to counter that playcalling.

Ian has already confirmed months ago that there is no rubberband logic in Madden.
