We are monitoring and fixing issues in this thread.
Thanks for your patience.
The upgrade is complete, but you've probably noticed the forums are only showing posts up to about April 8. Posts made after that are still in the process of being moved over, and that should take another week or two. Feel free to start a new thread.
The site might feel a little slow while work continues. Engineers are staying on it through the night to get things moving faster again. Thanks for your patience.
Vid looks amazing, great job!
Finally it seems like live has an working rebound mechanic
The only things I noticed were a minor morph at 28 sec. and a missed animation transition at 36 sec.
Nothing big though, but overall some animations seem to miss a proper transition. No complain here, I am actually amazed how fluid it looks.
Animation transition is also a "issue" of EA, IMO mostly because they have way shorter animations then e.g. 2k, where everything seems to be handled by animation-links (with the result of less control).
I am really happy, that it seems as if the animations are continue to be smooth, which means they are fitting to the game speed and the ratings (NBA 2k9 tomba...anyone?). If this works out proper -> brillant! (Madden and Fifa have a big lack here,IMO)
My only questions so far is: What about sliders? More, less, same?
Thx for your activity here guys, and thx for showing us this great stuff.
If nothing brutal happens, this will be my first live for years
- Pietrus looked confused when Mayo drove past him.
- Loving the way players hit the glass (especially the celtics clip)
- Rebounding looks ALOT better.
- Shooting looks better.
- Loved the help defense (Bosh's block on Deron) Although Jose jumped to block the shot ahead of time.
- The Lopez animation out of bounds was not needed.
- Loved the closeout by Geral Wallace in the Blazers clip. Also by Z in the Celtics clip.
- Passing still looks the same.
- Picking up the loose ball still looks the same. (way to fast)
- Loved the Smith clock at the end
Thnks for the Youtube guys. This is why I Love OS. Developer and Player Interaction and Player to Player Interaction. Kudos to Steve. Lol. Aye, get steve on the phone. Why can't ppl with G1's and Iphones (powerful enough mobiles) videw the forums in its real web format???... maybe at a future date :-\. Anyway, on to view the video.
I liked that David Lee tip to himself with the right hand and box out with the left side of his body. That rebound looked more realistic than any rebound I've seen in 2k. 2k is really really weak in the rebounding area.
That whole Robin Lopez sequence was weird. He got the offensive board when it looked like he shouldn't have. I guess that could be the Raps/Bargs just being weak and unaware so ok, but then he puts up a shot and falls forward awkwardly for no reason? He had no momentum. That was really weird.
The Tyson Chandler rebound was weird also. It looked like he jumped from under the rim and teleported sideways midair to get that board. Definitely wasn't feeling that.
Looks like Live definitely needs to work on fluidity. That's the #1 thing for me that Live needs to work on. They don't need to get sloppy like 2k9, but somewhere in the middle would be perfect.
Sound effects on the rim def. Needs to be turned down... Hard to believe those were recorded from a real game as well. Sounds overly dramatic and real metalish. Like someone is slamming a door. Hella lame. EA fix that asap!!!!

Would have been jaw dropping if the Ref helped the player up after he fell at the end of the video. I understand Live is coming from the pits and the improvements are well appriciated. But after this yr, the gameplay yr. I expect tons more subtle things like ref and player interactions. Players hi fiving fans in the crowd real time after a dunk. Signature player camera stares (a la wade and a his dramatic poses after buzzer beaters) etc etc. The NBA in rich in culture other then sneakers and jerseys. Let's get it EA, let's go!!! Lol... I need to see HD shots but right, based on the 2k10 Kobe pics last night, looks like they have EA beat on the poly count department. Its going to be a ill yr for bball fans.

Yeah, you need to see the high-res shots b/c that's wrong.
