Max Afinogenov, one of the best skaters in the NHL (crappy player overall, but he skates like lightning) against Kubina.

Kubina falls flat on the crest of his jersey, meanwhile, Afinogenov has momentum the other way. Kubina should be dead in the water... but watch...

    Kubina is able to:
    -get up
-skate backwards while keeping pace with Max
-turn, STILL keeping up with Max

Finally when both players hit top speed, Max finally breaks away.

This isn't even catch-up logic, this game is tied 1-1 at the moment. This is a CPU boost it gets all the time.

Kubina (77) is able to fall, then turn, and still stay with one of the fastest skaters in the NHL.

The online video is choppy and too low quality, but still you can see that Kubina should be dead in the water, yet can stay with Max even though he already has momentum going the other way.

Of course, Baa7 and myself just make this stuff up

Yes, the game runs terribly, at least on 360. Hopefully just a demo issue.

It took you 3 strides to blow past him. A whole 3 with the AI skating all out at least looking at the animations in that clip. Bad example Kerosene.

              Wow... just wow.

It takes me until I'm over the blueline to get true separation. Max is striding forward as Kubina is falling while facing the WRONG WAY. Yet he's able to recover and turn and keep pace with Max for a few strides.

Max still blows past him eventually, but if this were two equal players, the CPU has a good advantage being able to turn faster.

It never was (at least in the last 3 years), so I don't know what to say. The make the same strategy adjustments that human players can make, they don't cheat to come back. Those were tuned a bit, maybe it'll help what you were perceiving as comeback logic.

He was already in the process of getting up and skating back before you were even near the blue line in the first place. But you're going to believe what you want at any rate so its a fairly moot debate in the first place.

Re: NHL 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (360)

The AI seems to get all the breaks when it turns on the turbo boost, even when you are going into the corners for the puck and get there first the AI always comes out with the puck, blocked shots always break to the AI also and my 2 pet hates that make the game infuriating in 09

                    - controls not working when the AI is all over you - many times in 09 i would be on the PK and the controls just wouldnt react, for instance i would be closing a guy down at the point and i'd try nicking the puck away for the breakaway but when i pressed poke check nothing happened so i would keep pressing to see if it was going to work but still nothing, it was like the AI was going to score no matter how good positionally i played.

                    - Human Goaltenders seem to lose the ability to make saves they should be making when the AI turns the jets on, as everyone knows you need your Goalie to make the big saves but it seemed like when the AI got any sustained pressure a sequence of events would happen that ultimately leads to a goal, first the AI gets some pressure then comes the feeling of helplessness as the AI zips the puck around at speeds that the user cant compete with then comes the shots that if they dont go in the loose puck breaks back to the AI but even if on the odd occassion you do manage to get the puck the slightest nudge or contact from the AI and the puck is back on the AI's stick where as if you manage to get some contact on the AI puck carrier it doesnt hardly put him off his stride, as the pressure gets more intense then bang in goes a weak goal that the Goalie should have saved.

I know that these things i've mentioned happen in Hockey but it shouldnt happen in every single game you play, some people say there is a catch up logic some say there isnt but what i will say is there is something about the gameplay that is off, it doesnt feel right almost like a sense of being cheated.

On superstar they do have a skating advantage. You can turn it off in NHL10, and it is much smaller to begin with.

We were even at the moment he gets back to his feet. The difference: he just fell and is still facing 180 degrees the wrong way. While I have one of the fastest skaters in the NHL with 3 strides already.

Simple physics should back me up.

The online video looks kind of lousy. Watching it on HDTV shows it more clearly.

That is because you have those rose color glasses on! I kidd, but that is classic.

The more I play be a pro. The more I realize how much I suck at positioning. Oh well I score like a god though. Even on allstar.
