Re: NHL 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (360)
Not trying to offend you man, but you seem hell bent on not liking the game. Just get it over with an pre-order NHL2k10 (if you haven't already.)Is it me? or does it seem on superstar hardcore, that when your players get the puck in your zone, there's a hesitation and you can't make a play, especially if opposing players are near, and then you get bashed, there's a turn over and 5 more shots on net for the cpu as they just keep picking everything off from any angle they want???Pittsburgh - 2009 City of Champions! Listen, and not to offend you man, but this is for opinions right? Littman and the EA crew really pushed the whole "sim" thing, so I want to know what's going on, maybe I'm missing something or doing something wrong. Don't accuse me of being a 2k fan boy when I've never purchased any of their games. On allstar, the game seems more balanced as far as cpu vs user, but I'm seem to be able to wheel around way too much and way too easily. On Superstar, it's seems my cpu teammates are lacking some focus or something, just wanna know if anybody else had a similar experience. Maybe I've passed video games by and they're too simple for me, idk. What I know is, I've gotten a lot of answers off these boards in the past, so please try not to shut someone down or read their post more negatively than it is, because you don't share the same opinion, K?Get "Real" EA SportsComment

As much as this game lacks in the presentation dept (for me) I'm having a hard time putting it down. I really love how my CPU teammates defend my teams end of the ice. I'm seeing a lot more of the "little things" that I haven't come to expect from EA hockey. I still suck at the skill stick for scoring, but I'm having fun trying.Originally posted by jim416You are the 2k Police. :)Comment

Re: NHL 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (360)
Post-whistle scrums seem pretty useless and unrealistic. It's almost random who gets a penalty. I've had a few instances where I'll poke check the goalie to get the other team to start hitting me, and skate away hoping to draw the penalty, only to find out my player got a 'roughing call'. On the replay my 'roughing' penalty is shown to be me getting cross checked in the back 5 times as I skate in the opposite direction.
From a realism standpoint, having all 10 players on the ice start cross checking each other looks ridiculous. It's almost impossible to shove an opposing player without getting the other 8 players on the ice involved. I was hoping post-whistle action would lead to gatherings around the net, not 5 separate fights. Also, I can't seem to 'facewash' someone without starting a fight every single time. Maybe someone knows how to do this...
I'll probably turn this feature off in the full version, which I'll be buying because overall the game is maybe the best hockey game yet, despite this criticism.Comment

Re: NHL 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (360)
Also, I know this has been said by others but I have to reiterate it; the decision to use 'Y' as the 'initiate fight' button as well as the 'board pin' button was poor. If you want to pin someone up against the boards but accidentally release Y too soon you start a fight/get a penalty, almost every time. Maybe instead 'initiate fight' could be mapped to the 'back' button.Comment

There you go.. I liked some things from NHL 09 last year and some things from 2k9.. it's ok.. really. As much as this game lacks in the presentation dept (for me) I'm having a hard time putting it down. I really love how my CPU teammates defend my teams end of the ice. I'm seeing a lot more of the "little things" that I haven't come to expect from EA hockey. Re: NHL 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (360)
Eddie...
If you are having trouble with the skill stick here are a few pointers.
1. Don't deke too much...it slows you down, but use a combination of regular striding with the puck and stuttered dekes. Be shifty and fast. That is what will beat defensemen and suprise goaltenders.
2. On breakaways or simple moves with speed are the way to go.
Simply...speed and illusion dude.Comment

Even on AS defaults this game is soooo much better than 09. The AI is OUTSTANDING!!! Your teammates finally know where they need to be.
Again.. great job EA! My level last year was a mix of PRO and AS.. this year, AS seems perfect for me.Comment
