game freezing....controller freaking out

4 times in the last two days the game has frozen. i usually happens when a db is going in for a hit and it freezes right before the receiver gets the ball.

every time it happens the vibration in the controller goes crazy and the game freezes.

aside from this issue, the 3-4 defense issue, and run blocking as a whole, i love this game.

hopefully these problems get fixed because this game is great aside from these few glaring issues.

same freezing issue happened me only once i wasnt impressed either cause it was in the middle of an epic match.........

i would tell everyone my opinion on the 3-4 defense but i kno its only gonna ruin my day and but me in a bad mood

love the game aside from a couple issues but this freezing crap is just unacceptable.

Someone has discovered a new way to clear the Xbox 360 hard drive cache. Previously, you needed to reset your Xbox 360, and hold down the A button as a game was booting up. This new code allows you to clear the entire hard drive cache:

Go to the system blade and then select memory.
<CENTER></CENTER>
Press Y on the HD symbol and then press X,X,Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X. Once you do this a messsage will appear saying: Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?

Performing this function will also clear any software updates

issues still happens.

it only happens when your DB is going to hit the WR just as the ball arrives.

it's happened on two different consoles with two different hard drives.

yeah, this happened to me yesterday in the 4th quarter of a pretty close game that I was trailing in. It was 3rd and 8 and they threw to the first down line when my DB was just in time to make the hit and get me the ball back when....

VIBRATE!!!

WTF? It was the most competitive game I have played and I got jipped out of the finish. Even if I hadn't made the comeback, I would have liked to have had the chance.

That's not a good sign. Sounds like they missed a bug that's callstacking (crashing) their game. They should be able to patch it as long as they can repro it. I haven't played Madden in 3 years or so due to the lack of quality...BUT is there some kind of animation that happens when your DB goes to tackle the WR? IF there is, then it may be an animation that's crashing your games. I could be wrong, but that's a possiblilty.

Maybe the console holds the problem I have NEVER had Madden or GTAIV or other games freeze on me that others complain about freezing up. You need to determine which version DVD drive you have in your Xbox 360 as well as information about each drive. The photos below should assist you in identifying your drive version without opening your Xbox 360 by comparing the DVD drive trays.
We now have three drives shipping in retail Xbox 360's. Units with a manufacture date of 11/06/06 or newer may contain the new BENQ VAD6038 DVD drive. This drive is rumored to be the only one that does not freeze while playing demanding games. Also the most quiet of the bunch.

Take notice of the shape of the DVD tray itself. Each have a unique design that makes it a relatively easy task to determine which drive you have without opening your console.

Another method to determine version is to look through the hole in the front of the DVD drive that is visible when the faceplate has been removed.

Yep...this happened to me twice last week when playing with friends. Both times, he threw the ball to a receiver and it was tipped away by the CPU, I controlled the DB and was coming in for a vicious hit on the receiver that undoubtedly would have made the Wes Welker vs. Steelers hit last year look like childsplay.

but alas, the game froze and the controllers vibrated like crazy.

it's like i said man....when you go in for a hit on a WR with a DB it's an in game freezing issue.

it's not randomly freezing.

it's not some hard drive or dvd drive issue.

i have no problems with any other games.

i appreciate that you're trying to help but i have access to the internet and can trouble shoot reasons for my console freezing.

i've tried and it's the game not the hardware.

I thought it was my buddies system, but he just got his this past christmas and since other people are obviously having it happen at the same exact instance (a DB crushing a receiver when he doesn't have the ball) it's obviously the game.

Yes. On my 3rd and 4th game. It froze twice like this.

It hasn't frozen 75 games after that though.

just happened again....with one minute left in the afc championship game.

i don't know if it's just ryan clark of the steelers that makes this happen or what but it needs to be fixed.

it makes every play at the end of a close game almost unbearable to play.

Has happened to me too. Steelers/Bengals on an overthrow where I was lining up the big hit with the hit stick. Vibrate and freeze. SUCKS BIG TIME.

EA had better say something soon, it is instances like that which make it a lot harder to fire up the game and replay it again next time.
