    How do you defend slants?

It seems like slants beat man, and zone, and are even favorable against B&R coverage... How do you stop em?

In real life, bump and run and cover two zone, and to really beat them use cover two zone press. Great receivers will beat the press but the hook zones played by the linebackers will close most of the lanes for the slants to abuse.

The real trick to beating the slants in the pass rush to be honest. The slants play is supposed to be a quick pass but if the QB doesn't get the ball off quickly because of the coverage, then the pass rush should get there. In madden though, this isn't always the case.

What he said + a spy. They are good for picks, swats n big hits to jar the ball loose

Try the "SHOW BLITZ" audible. the SS usually comes down to the line, and the corners walk up on the WR a little bit.

Cover 2 or Cover 3 works very well against the slant routes.

The answer to this question depends upon whether or not you are talking about quick slants or deep slants.

              Quick slants, not deep ones.

Cover 2 in theory seems like it would work but the linebackers play their hook zones way too deep and its easy for the QB to squeeze it in there, especially a HUM controlled QB.

Spy is a good idea, maybe i'll try that next time.

Also, to the person who said Cover 3: No. Cover 3 will get chewed up by slants all day, but I appreciate the suggestion.

I would try that but then I can't bump and run. Can I?

Bump and run should shut those down, but if your corners are weaklings and have a low press rating then you could try putting your safety in a cover 1.

Ok, Bump and Run with man coverage or zone coverage like a cover 2?

Bump and run only works with man coverage.

Send an OLB to the flats. Problem solved.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the advice, but an OLB to the flats doesn't help at all. Slants go to the middle of the field...maybe slants to the outside this would work.

Sometimes it works with your corners in Cover 2. Ok so man coverage, bump and run...maybe I need to start playing with the packers.
