Ricky Rubio to stay in Spain

A report from Yahoo! Sports is confirming that Ricky Rubio will continue to play in Spain for two more seasons before leaving to the NBA.

Rubio to stay in Spain for two more seasons

Looks like Jonny Flynn will have a better opportunity to earn playing time for the Timberwolves during his rookie season.

Oh no Pistol Pete Junior is not coming to the NBA. What should we do?. Timberwolves were idots to pick this moron, They could of have flynn and Stephen Curry.

Its funny how these international players have this much power to chose where they want to go. And i dont get these idiot GM that draft so call high profile international players dont want to be there, its makes no sense to do it man. Now they waste a pick on this idiot when they could have another player like a Stephen Curry.

I don't know what's funnier about this situation...

      1) Minny was dumb enough to take this kid
      2) Minny's front office somehow got worse after firing Kevin McHale
      3) According to a (most likely BS) rumor, Minny wants David Lee, Nate Robinson and a future #1 pick to trade Rubio to the Knicks.

So what does this mean, do minnesota lose his rights eventually, does the pick become wasted? It doesn't seem fair if that's the case, why the hell enter the draft if you have no intention of playing for half the teams who might draft you wtf

The NBA needs to stop kissing the butt of every foreign player. It's not the first foreign player to make fun of the NBA, and looks like it's not gonna be the last one.

Rubio wasn't going to do anything in the league worth mentioning until then.

Hopefully he comes into the association as a player instead of just hype.

How exactly did our front office get worse? I think Kahn is the best thing to happen to this franchise since KG was drafted.

What has he done that's so bad? We're not going to be competitive for two more years anyways and at the very worst its trade bait.

All the trade made so far has cleared up a monstrous amount of cap room for next off-season.

This has nothing to do with Rubio's power, and everything to do with an 8+ million dollar buyout. Get the facts straight. Minny is only allowed to contribute 1 million to the cause. If Ricky breaks contract, he stands to lose money playing for the Wolves, same way Juan Carlos Navarro did. As Kahn said, since they are rebuilding, they can sit back and see how Rubio and Flynn pan out in their respective situations.

If it's not about 'power' but about 'money' then why has minnesotas gm flown to spain 3 times this off season trying to court the dude.

                      To convince him to come?

I still don't think it's a bad pick. Aside from Jennings, the rest of the picks aren't a who's who of great players. His rights should help them assuming they play it smart.

If its a money issue then why'd he enter the draft at all and why did any team draft him? If the lakers had drafted him do you think he would have played in the nba this year? If you say yes, then it's not a money issue it's a personal preference issue ala power.

I remember reading how he was willing to play in the NBA for nothing. Just to play in the NBA was enough and that meant buying himself out and he was willing. Now it's all about the money so the kid originally just wanted to play. Maybe under the assumption the buyout wasn't going to be as big?

Just wonder whether it was him or others calling the shots.

If he would have gone to LA or New York the money from potential advertising would have offset the buyout.
