luda06 i didn't really have an opinion on the strength of the double-team. my point was that you couldn't set them automatically online in 2k9. that said, what you said about cancelling the double or faking it with a double-tap is good. REAL GOOD.

and i wasn't necessarily talking about the user jumping for a pump-fake i was speaking more specifically about the CPU defenders. while mismatched, poor and average defenders should fall for this (although to a lower degree than is currently in gameplay) i think we'd all like to see Good and Elite defenders turn the tables on the pump-fake more often...
NOTE: Any and ALL of my suggestions are specifically and only related to Play Now Online.

i can honestly see both sides of the lobby argument, but i tend to favor them myself....this and and a PLAY NOW option really give us an option of getting into a game pretty quickly...

They have unranked lobbies in 2k10.

i agree with these but i personally would lean more towards gameplay. for example , suction animations and anything pre-canned really has to go. also, sim stats still aren't completely fixed - specifically rebounds. i've said it one and i'll say it again, rebounds off of blocked shots are not being counted. lastly, i think the ratings logic seems a little off. i think nogster uncovered this. why does the overall rating go up a lot when you increase awareness but not the attributes such as shooting and defense.

at least in the my player mode...why does awareness even matter if you're controlling the player the entire time?

My biggest issues are the steals(online) and the unstoppable post game. Playing people online was a chore because of all of the swiping with no consequences. The up and unders were way to effective against the cpu. The drop step with high-rated players was an instant standing dunk. They couldn't defend it. The up and unders have been changed for the Combine. I have a feeling that steals will still be a problem online this year. That dreaded steal were the defender rides your back is still in the combine. Do us all a favor and take it out for 2k10.

There's no point in taking it out of the game. There's only ONE simple solution. 9/10 times call it a REACHING FOUL like it would be called in real life. If players see that their stars are racking up fouls, THEY WILL STOP DOING IT. Same thing against CPU make it a reaching foul. What i like about Draft Combine is that in regular games, even if the still attempt results in you getting the ball, 8/10 you get a foul called against you, and on fastbreaks if you attempt the strip from behind, the CPU will still attempt the layup and will usually getting called for shooting foul. One suggestion is they should really make the CPU have more reaching and more shooting fouls on jumpers.

As an aside, 2K4 had a mechanic where post players would fight for position -- there was a โ€œwindowโ€ to get them the ball before the defender took away position (the length of this โ€œwindowโ€ was based on player ratings of course).
Wow, so 2K4 had post position mechanic. Too bad it didn't have a post game at all...LOL!

I take it this article was solely about online play? I didn't really agree with much of it.

The biggest complainers are PRIMARILY online players. Too many weird things happen online for it to be my primary source of enjoyment.

Haven't they already announced that they are not bringing back the lobbies.

Seems to me more people enjoyed the lobbies to those who didn't.

If people didn't like them they didn't have to use them.

Why would they just scrap the entire lobby. It worked well for years.

Very nice article and agree with everything you said. If they fixed these problems this game would really be something special. Forgot that in 2k4 they fought for position. This would be a very good addition to 2k10 with some nice post moves.
