    Seymour traded

The Pats have traded DE Richard Seymour to the Raiders for a 1st round pick in 2011...hope he doesn't miss being in the playoffs too much

And, just like that, the Patriots are back to having two first round picks again... lol

      Re: Seymour traded

The Pats have the knack of letting guys go when they're on the decline (with the exception of Cassel and Assante Samuel) I'm sure Seymour will give the Raiders a good year or two though. The Raiders actually have what looks like a good defense this year, at least on paper.

        Very interesting.

At least this means the Pats should have the cap room to keep Wilfork around.

Is cap room really an issue if we are looking at '10 being uncapped?

How the hell do they get a 1st round pick? As much as I cant stand the Pats, they are one of the best run franchises.

I assume he'll be playing DT on the Raiders' 4-3 defense. On paper, that is a damn good defense. If they can get a pass rush going, that great set of corners they have will even be better, not to mention they've got two good young LBs that will appreciate Seymour keeping linemen off of them. Honestly, the way the AFC West looks, the Raiders have an outside shot at the playoffs this year.

Interesting move to say the least.

Sucks to see Seymour go, but I'm not going to question the Patriots on this move. One thing we now know is that they value Wilfork more since they made the move to free up some cap space to get him an extension.

I bet the they end up trading that pick for a second this year or something like that.

Raiders must have been desperate because their defense was getting run over, passed through at will.

So what is the deal with the Pats defense? I've heard they're going back to a 4-3. What would their line look like? Burgess and Warren at DE and Brace and Wilfork at DT?

Al can't think of the future or long-term.

Raiders have to win now, not later, for him.

Not having first-round picks later isn't going to matter if he's not still around.

Seriously, at this point if i'm a Raiders fan i'm rallying the troops to storm the castle and forcibly remove Al Davis by any means necessary. Cutting Jeff Garcia because he was a threat to Jamarcus Russell's status as a starter and now giving a 1st round pick for a guy who would've been hard pressed to get a sniff for a 2nd rounder from any other team in the league.

Has nothing to do with NE being smart, but everything to do with the Raiders being a total and complete mess. Jamarcus Leaf will be out of the league after his rookie contract is up. He's horrible. and now they've cut the only guy who could've given that offense a spark.

If Denver is smart, they're on the phone with Jeff Garcia's agent as we speak.
