Re: NBA Live 10 Blog: Shooting the Rock
I see where you coming from...People miss over the bigger picture and this year they brought nba live 10 back to the way it use to be..Imo if you a true nba live fan you will clearly see how they brought back the fluid/movement/fundamentals/Everything live 05 had but better.you know I too have fallen victim to this, but aren't we just supposed to just play the game, at the end of the day why are people stressing so many negative things instead of looking at the the large amount of improvements made to the game. i mean no game is perfect some of the highest rated games in the industry have glitches wonky animations and so forth, so all this omg his leg is positioned wrong on the dunk, the ball went through the defender blah blah. Are you really going to be paying attention to that while you are trying to win the game, if these are reasons that you will lose the game then you probably will suck anyway. I understand that we want the perfect game but we also need to be civil in our approach because these are people who we are talking to about these issues and when the next version comes out we want to be involved with the process again as well. There coming here isn't really part of the hype machine as people will like to call it. they just want people 's thought's and are finally able to converse with us. and b4 anyone say's anything about what I have said or done read my first sentence. I wil be getting live because every video just about has answered every question that I have had. and by the way i'd just like to add OS is the best site ever to discuss anything, let's keep it that way.Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Blog: Shooting the Rock
I've got to say, that was pretty impressive. I really liked the animations in the shooting tutorial, and it's great to see good rim, net and ball physics! Those replays in the background looked awesome as well. I still noticed the occasional awkward animation in the gameplay vid but overall the game looks miles ahead of 09. The atmosphere and presentation were top notch. I particularly liked the And1 from Wade at the start of the video, and the replay that followed was sick!
IMO from what I've seen so far, there seems to be a lot of reasons to at least give this game a try. User control looks to be very responsive and a lot of fun.
This game is showing all the signs of being a very good basketball game.Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Blog: Shooting the Rock
I guess people's standards are low when it comes to collision detection/ ball physics. That's fine but mines are not. It's 2009 & I was expecting me or the cpu to atleast pay when we attempt a pass right through defenders.
Saw plenty of instances where the ball gets passed across the court and the defender just gazes at it.
Why couldn't they just code in a kick ball call in that gif I posted? I'm not a programmer so I would like to know.
And people saying why I'm bringing this up every game has detection problem, well not every game is the ball the essence of the game.
And @ the CZAR
Players receiving passes without looking like they have telekinetic powers has always killed some of the immersion for me. It just looks bad to me. When it happens it brings me back to the last gen Lives.Tom Brady :" We're only going to score 17 points? ha ha ha"

but HEY guess what, it happens in every game released!!!!!!! so that pretty much messes up your whole gripe.
its like complaining you're banana isn't bright red when in fact no other banana in the world is this colour. (weird analogy i know
)
so basically my point it, if these two gripes really bum you out, imagine if the devs DID fix them, then however the time they invested in that area made other areas, like shooting, dribbling, momentum, CPU AI a lot worse than we are saying in the videos.
you have to weight it up, its been a year, just one year since what was really a VERY poor nba game in live09. the fact they have managed to improve this much, and only leave a few errors in the game is actually a massive achievement, especially when those errors dont really disrupt the core gameplay.
i even try playing live 09 now and i truly cannot stand it, its like night and day 10, i never expected it to be so much smoother. the demo will hoepfully confirm this opinions as i would love to have two great nba sims to play all year.Last edited by idrisguitar; 09-06-2009, 08:16 AM.Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Blog: Shooting the Rock
You observed right DaVe, but at the same time, what if AI does recognizes every pass that goes by and kicks/deflects/intercepts it? What then? AI has to make some mistakes to, or you cannot beat it (because you make 'em too). Sure mistakes have to look believable and within concept of situation, but they have to be there. Even in real life, mistakes decide games. If both sides would play without mistakes, they could as well flip a coin and decide the winner that way.Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Blog: Shooting the Rock
I feel you Dave !!! I hope they fix it. But if not i think I can make it one more year.
also I don't think its low standards man but this could be a to-ma-to to-ma'-to type of deal. AFAIK its just varying degrees of brokenness with colision detection. Once somebody ... anybody get's it perfect or close to that. Then I think that's when i feel comfortable making a demand that there should be no more CD issues in hoop games. But until that time comes its not like we can say hey that is not fixed lets go play game "b" where that doesn't exhist.
So in my mind i can at this point enjoy the game that best represents the sport despite its flaws.... Or sit it out like i did last year.... Well last year sucked : ) this year looks to be a lot better on both sides IMho but not perfection.
Just my 2 cents man. I hope you find a game you can enjoy because i couldn't last year and it straight sucked a big one !!!Last edited by Da_Czar; 09-06-2009, 11:51 AM.Catch me on that #SimNation #SimHangOut Friday's @ 10:00 pm est https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...N7yxMiElOpMl_BComment

Re: New Blog is up!!! "Shooting the Rock"
Good look. You're right. I must of have misread article and had the impression that all games were cpu vs cpu. In that case, the game looks sharp to me. I've bought both Live and 2K (on release day) for the last 4 years now. This year will be no different.FYI, you can tell if it's CPU or a user by whether or not you see the blue "eyes" arrow beneath the player. Mike was controlling the Nuggets and Hornets for sure because I remember noticing the arrow beneath those players. No arrows for GSW/Knicks, plus he mentioned that was a CPU-CPU game in the article.Comment
