      CITY FULL OF YOUNGSTERS

      Adam Jackson closed the transfer window at 5:00 PM today with lots of deadline day activity. He got rid of five un-wanted players, including moany Brazilian 'keeper Adriano Basso. Four youngsters were also offloaded in what Adam Jackson called "getting some weight off the teams shoulders." Here are the teams sellings on Deadline Day.

      ADRIANO BASSO --> Burnley --> ร‚ยฃ250,000
      STEPHEN HENDERSON
      --> Watford --> ร‚ยฃ30,000
      CHRISTIAN RIBEIRO --> Everton --> ร‚ยฃ60,000
      JORDAN WALKER --> S****horpe --> ร‚ยฃ70,000
      GAVIN WILLIAMS --> Wigan --> ร‚ยฃ100,000

      The ones which were wanted though, and were got by City were as follows

      BEN ALNWICK
      --> Tottenham Hotspur --> ร‚ยฃ260,000

      GEORGE ELOKOBI
      --> Wolverhampton Wanderers --> ร‚ยฃ150,000

      GABRIEL OBERTAN
      --> Manchester United --> Season Long Loan

      GILES BARNES
      --> Fulham --> ร‚ยฃ800,000

      DANIEL PAREJO
      --> Real Madrid --> ร‚ยฃ2,000,000

      HENRI SAIVET
      --> Bordeaux --> ร‚ยฃ500,000

      The biggest coup of the Championship had to be Obertan. He's only just joined Manchester United from French side Bordeaux this summer, but he'll be hoping to gain some first-team experience with City, and learn how to play the English game. Barnes has been frozen out at Fulham after spending most of last season out injured, and he still looks quite a talent. Parejo impressed in England whilst on loan with QPR, and Saivet is a former team-mate of Obertan, so he should fit in well. Alnwick looks tobe back-up to Dean Gerken, and finally the left-back signed from promoted Wolves, George Elokobi, is expected to rotate with Jamie McAllister. It's been a god summer of signings for Adam Jackson, let's hope the start of season form won't change in the upcoming weeks.

                  Very nicely done.

                  2 questions about the game that I haven't figured out yet:

                  1. Can you view the transfers other teams picked up?
                  2. Can you only negotiate on a weekly basis?

                    1. Can you view the transfers other teams picked up?
                    2. Can you only negotiate on a weekly basis?
                    No, you cant, unless you can figure out who has gone by looking at thei team in the player stats.

                    And it's before every game in the transfer period you can make bids, if you have enough Negotiations points.

                        GREZZA'S SPOT KICK TERROR; EASY WIN FOR CITY
                        BURNLEY 0-3 BRISTOL CITY
                        Hartley 40' (pen)
                        Maynard 54'
                        Haynes 90'

                        [Brian Jensen can't keep out Paul Hartley's spot kick, as City went onto win 3-0 at Turf Moor.]

                        :::::::::::::::::

                        BURNLEY, England - A fully-fit Bristol City team travelled up to Lancashire to face one of the Championship's best teams, Burnley. They were given a cash injection by chairman Barry Kilby, and bought Steven Fletcher, Andre Bikey and David Nugent on loan from Portsmouth. City stumped up cash to buy youngsters from across the globe, but none of them started, but Ben Alnwick, Gabriel Obertan and Dani Parejo were on the bench. This is how CIty lined up;

                        -- Gerken --
                        --
                        -- Orr -- Carey -- Fontaine -- McAllister --
                        --
                        -- Sno
                        --
                        -- Hartley ---------------- Clarkson --
                        --
                        -- Elliott --
                        --
                        -- Saborio -- Maynard --

                        Nicky Maynard has started the season in hot form for the Bristolians, and he wanted to boost his morale with another goal. He almost netted, after Jamie McAllister glided down the wing, setting Maynard up beautifully for a header. Heading isn't Maynard's strongest point due to his height, but he's fairly decent at it, but he couldn't connect with it this time, sending the ball over the bar,

                        Burnley did cause a little bit of trouble on the attacking front though. Northern Ireland striker Martin Paterson as the most likely to score the goal, skinning three Bristol City defenders, but he walked the ball into the 'keeper's hands while trying to take everybody on. Nugent was also running at the defence oftenly, but he didn't have the finishing touch he used well in his time at Burnley's local rivals, Preston.

                        Controversy arose in the 39th minute though, as Burnley conceded a penalty, but it didn't look like it at first. Alvaro Saborio was played through by Maynard, but his run came to an abrupt end when Andre Bikey slid for the ball. The referee didn't see anything wrong, but the linesman flagged on the near side, and ruled that Bikey made contact with Saborio, which made Burnley furious. Paul Hartley stepped up to take the honours, and he converted the spot kick, smashing it in the top corner. The Burnley fans were infuriated at the decision, but they were 1-0 down.

                        But on the stroke of half time, stoppage time in the first half to be exact, Burnley got their revenge. Nugent wrong-footed Liam Fontaine, who was left on his backside at his skill. Nugent got a shot away, which was saved by Gerken, but was allegedly penalised by Bradley Orr. The referee Chris Foy gave the second penalty of the match, much to the dismay of the City fans behind the goal, who were shouting abuse at the ref. Normally so cool on the spot, Graham Alexander stepped up to take it, with his almost immaculate record, but he put the kick wide of the goal. The half time whistle sounded, and Alexander went in to laughs by the City fans, who were right next to the tunnel.

                        When the players came out for the second half, Burnley's ร‚ยฃ3 Million striker Fletcher was playing now on the left wing. Many Claret & Blue fans thought this was wasting his talent, but Coyle is a tactical mastermind, allegedly, and it almost worked. Wade Elliott worked his way down the wing and hit in a deep cross, which Fletcher almost half-volleyed into the back of the net, but it went high over the bar.

                        The linesman then called that the shot had taken a deflection off Orr, and Burnley had a corner, but it didn't work in their favour. When the kick was wasted, City counter attacked swiftly, and Maynard got the better of the last man, captain Steven Caldwell, and easily finished the chance past "The Beast", Brian Jensen. The Robins were flying away with the victory, and there had only been 10 minutes of the second half played.

                        Their wasn't a lot of action for the last 20 minutes, as Haynes, Parejo and Obertan were given a run out. Eyebrows were raised when Jensen came up for a corner, but Burnley fans were almost celebrating a goal. Elliott floated in a corner, but another Elliott, Marvin of Bristol City, headed the ball accidentaly back towards his own goal. Lucky for him, Fonatine was on the line to spare his blushes, and another counter attack was in the pipeline. Parejo fed in Haynes on the halfway line, who was in acres of space, and from 45 yards out, Haynes found the back of the net to give City all 3 points. Jensen didn't really need to go up for the corner, and it didn't help Burnley either. City stay top of the league, as Maynard continues his fine scoring form, and Alexander finally missed a penalty.

                          KEY POINTS

                          10'' GOALLL! Hartley does amazing down the wing, outsprinting Etherington, before whipping the ball to the back post, and Marvin Elliott gets his head on the end of the cross, making it 1-0 to Bristol City.

                          18'' Could of been a goal for Stoke. Etherington was involved, crossing the ball for the attacking midfielder Whelan, but he couldn't mnake the chance count as a goal.

                          35'' Evander Sno broke from the midfield, but couldn't get his shot away, as Leon cort slid in to clear the danger away.

                          51'' GOALL! Saivet gets his first goal on his debut in a City shirt. Abdoulaye Faye headed a cross away, but Whitehead failed to deal with it. He turned into Elliott, who knocked the ball back in-front of goal, and Saivet smashed the ball into the top corner.
                          66'' Saivet had a close shave with the goal. Sorensen tipped his shot onto the post, and the Frenchman could of had his brace their.

                          70'' GOALL! Bristol City extend their lead here at Ashton Gate. A cross into the middle by Elliott was nodded to the back post by Bradley Orr, who was in an unusually attacking position, and PauL Hartley let the ball bounce once, and he smashed it past Sorensen. Bristol look like THEIR the team who were relegated from the Premier League, but Stoke have just crumbled today.

                          83'' GOALL! The goals keep on coming, but the Stoke fans who had left early wouldn't have seen their side get a consolation goal. Pugh's cross was met by the head of Tuncay, but the ball hit the underside the bar. It kindly bounced down for Glenn Whelan to smash home from 1 yard.

                          90'' GOALLL! In stoppage time, City add a 4th goal! Substitute Giles Barnes teased Shawcross, but Sno got on the end of a low cross, and drilled the ball into the bottom corner. Final score, Bristol City 4-1 Stoke City.

                          Akinde -- Haynes

                          KEY POINTS

                          8'' Akinde squares the ball up to David Noble, whose shot is blocked by Michael Nelson, but only just.

                          16'' Danny Haynes goes on a mazy run down the line, cuts inside Jamie McCunnie, but Jan Budtz stops the shot to his inside post.

                          24'' Andy Monkhouse's cross is perfectly times for the head of Joel Porter, but it was an easy save to make by Ben Alnwick, who easily caught the Aussie's header.

                          28'' OOOOH! Almost took the lead there did City, and it would of been a stunning goal. Giles Barnes took on Humphreys, crossed the ball into the area, and Akinde, out of nowhere, produces a spectacular overhead kick, but Budtz is the hero for Hartlepool again, palming the ball away to safety.

                          35'' Oh no, disaster for Hartlepool! They thought they had scored through James Brown, but the goal has been ruled out for offside. Humphreys played a long ball into the middle, and Brown got in-front of Alnwick and nodded the ball into the back of the net, but the linesman had his flag up. He was only an inch offside though.

                          50'' GOALLLLL! City finally break the deadlock, but in truth, it's been a long time coming. Sproule's cross was headed away twice by Hartlepool, but Lee Johnson struck an effort against Butdz's post, but Haynes was on hand to follow up. 1-0 to Bristol City now.

                          60'' Hartlepool waste a corner, and city break in a VERY fast counter attack. The finish is not so pretty though, as Noble's off target effort still goes for a corner.

                          81'' GOALLLL! City seal the game now thanks to young Cole Skuse! Giles Barnes weaved some magic and played in the 23 year-old midfielder, who produced a stunning effort, curling the ball beyond Budtz, and all but putting city's name in the hat for Round 3 of the Carling Cup.

                          The full time whistle sounds, and the next round draw after the game makes great reading. Bristol City will have a money-spinning tie at home to MANCHESTER UNITED!
