Re: NBA Live 10 Preview (1up)

I read the start of the article, then started to read the next part only to find myself skimming through a bit only to click the X button on my opened tab...took me about 1 1/2 minutes before I wasn't on that page anymore if that...just was a boring read from jump to me, he really didn't catch the audiences attention just a bad analogy from jump made me loose interest.

No disrespect to the guy, I am sure he is a decent editor but that wasn't well written in my opinion. Whether he was praising EA or not would have made no difference to me.

Wow is this review done by a person or robot? Seriously, this guy is running an operating system used for "sabotage".
WOW.... way to call this cartoon character out. Any fan of a basketball sim should have a problem with a guy like this offering up his fraudulent version of a review. I like how you plastered this guys picture for everyone to see what we're dealing with.

This is the perfect reason why OS is the place I call home. It will be interesting to see what this guy says about 2K

I think more than anything these type of reviews by these type of guys renders their sites useless to us and doesn't make them at all appear legit.

The problem is IGN and Gamespot have thousands upon thousands of visitors each day. So what these guys write carries quite a bit of weight to the casual sports gamer who doesn't know about OS.

it definitely harms the chances of more poeple getting into sim gamers, when these ignorant buffoons start writing about something they have no clue about.

but as long as the games sell and this part of the industry sustains itself then it should all be good.

also, i have a feeling that he's not the only one who's going to struggle running pick & rolls this year. compared to 09, it actually takes a bit more skill and the results don't always lead to an easy layup/dunk. it's a shame though. IMO, the pick & roll functionality is way more in depth, more balanced, and more realistic this year. you guys should've seen the NBA Live 09 tournament in Phoenix this past year. both guys pick & rolling to death. one guy scored 63 points with Yao Ming, all on slip screen dunks. made me absolutely sick to my stomach.

                    The downside of sim-gaming
First of all this review seemed to me to be written by someone who said there's no way that Live is better than 2K before he opened the box and then started looking for reasons why that's the case. To me that's no big deal, humans aren't naturally unbiased. You become accustomed to things a certain way and then you began to expect them to be that way in order to be "right" in your mind. I am the same way which is why I consider myself a Live fanboy. I just don't feel 2K plays "right" and I know it's because I've owned every EA B-Ball game ever made and so that's my standard. Truth is 2K is a great game and to most (based on sales) the best game. Sorry for other game talk but I was merely making the point that to me this reviewer made his review based on what he felt was "right" and obviously that doesn't match the opinions of the gamers in the Live Forum. It doesn't make him wrong it just makes him have an opinion. The one negative, to me, is that due to his position he should have made more of an effort to be bias neutral and to have zero expectations before playing the game, kinda like the Czar does it.

One other thing is I fault us gamers AND developers for this: (this deals more with Pared's perspective in the 2K thread listed above)

Gamers Fault: We tend to put a negative impressions towards gamers that play on easier levels. If this wasn't the case I think reviewers would be more likely to review the games on the difficulty levels that they actually qualify to play versus what "gamers" play on. Then they would have a more realistic experience that fits their skill set.

Developers Fault: If they named the difficulty levels something more indicative of what to expect instead of something that can be construed as meaning "you can't play" (LOL) then gamers/reviewers would be more likely to play the levels that provide what they are looking for. Example: If the levels are Easy/Rookie, Pro/Med, Allstar/Hard, and Superstar/Very Hard; and I tell you I play on Rookie/Easy you are gonna say man you can't play, or at least think that. Now what if the levels were Easy Alley-Oops, Lots of Dunks, Sim-Emphasis, X&O Guru? Now when I played on a certain level I'd know exactly what I'd get. There would be no: "Where's the D?", "Alleys are too Easy!", "The Game is too Hard Mugsy should be able to dunk on Dikembe!", etc. Also it wouldn't be the thought of you can't play because you play on "Easy Dunks" it would just be you must like to Dunk a lot, well I like the "X&O's" of the game. It's really just a mind trick but now you have a way that everyone can get what they're looking for, without feeling like they're not a serious gamer unless they play on...

Truth is with all the hype and expectations built up from these videos and developer interaction I am fienin for this game, a demo, a poster, a rock with Live 10 wrote on it, something! that I am just trying to past the time until the next tidbit release, LOL. So this may or may not make sense at all!

I feel you..I played 2k and i agree with what you saying and from vids everything comes together in nba live 10..I love how responsive the controls are and that plays a big part in a basketball game because without controls a game can go wrong..In the past with nba live 09 08 07 06 we didnt have that type of controls

Re: NBA Live 10 Preview (1up)

I have a question? Why do people who don't even know what basketball is get to play games earlier and review them?

Obviously this dusch bag don't even know what basketball is from the way he wrote his review. He couldn't execute a simple pick and roll and he was complaining that fisher hit too many 3's after he stated fisher was one of the best clutch 3point shooters in the game.

Of course he isn't gonna like the game for being more realistic b/c to me he made himself sound like a cheese player saying that the alley oop is the wildcat of the basketball game. That shows you he tried to throw the alley all the time since he couldn't play real basketball.

Please Ea stop sending your demos to the clowns and give it to so real sports sim players instead. Like Da Czar and i would even be happy to read a review from pasta padre b/c they are legit and will play the game right and give a good honest review.

He didn´t love your precious game? booo-hooo. Sad to see you all resort to attacks on his "looks" as part of how to define if his comments are "legit" or not.

About the plastic look, he sure has a point. EA slants a bit to the over the top style in the art direction.
