I dont think so.. I am always on the lookout for games that I would consider worth a purchase. If the game doesnt have alot of playtime or serious replay value then its a rent only. I dont spend 60$ for something I can complete on a single weekend and be bored with shortly after ( I dont play consoles online.. I have the superior PC for that ).

I am going to buy Dragon Age because I know its going to offer tons of playtime and plenty of value for the money spent.

      Listen here is the truth:

I like this year's Madden better than the last few years.

Now with that said, there is so much missing to make the game exciting anymore. If EA would spend less time working on gimmicks and more on making EACH individual game feel different from week to week (Atmosphere) then maybe more would buy their game.

Over the years Madden and NCAA have become STALE. It always feels like the same game from the year before. I skipped NCAA Football 09 last year and to be completely honest, it still feels like the same game that I have been playing for the past 7 years. I know without a doubt that this will be the last time I purchase an NCAA Football game by EA as the game needs to be rebuilt from scratch, new commentary, new atmosphere, new animations, ect for me to even consider purchasing it again.

EA does not make much progress from year to year in their games like others do. Yes insert 2k to piss the fanboys off but it is true. Look at what innovations NBA 2k10 is looking to do this year and what they did with NFL 2k5 just for comparison's sake.

If EA spent less time milking their franchise series to death like Madden and even more so with NCAA Football, then sales would not plummet like they have over the years. GAMERS ARE GETTING TIRED OF THE SAME GAME WITH ANOTHER STUPID GIMMICK ADDED AND A GREAT FEATURE BEING REMOVED.

IF you want to see EA go down further, watch what happens when they continue to charge gamers for stuff that should already be included in the $60 price tag. That is turning me off even further. EA is starting to create a massive disconnect with the mass market and it could prove to be very costly to them in the long run!

This is what happens when you have ppl working on the game who know absolutley NOTHING about football. If you see it on sunday, you'll see it in Madden, right Ian??? Gimme a break. Your running animations look like garbage, blocking sucks,AI is ********,too many easy catches being dropped, too many glitches, too much lag online, fumble mini game is garbage and Pro Tak has way too much hugging going on. I hope the NFL is smart enough to realise that the license shouldnt be exclusive anymore so that 2k can make an NFL game, then EA will really get off their arse to put out a good game cuz they wont have a choice.

One last thing on the numbers. NPD for 2004 says that NFL2k5 sold 2.5 million copies for the Xbox and PS2 combined. If you total that with the 6 million Madden 2005 copies you would get 8.5 million copies of NFL football sold for the 2004/2005 season. Not taking into account whatever Sony and Blitz put out that year, if any. I'm sure that was part of the reasoning for wanting to purchase the NFL license at that time.

The ~3 million copies Madden will sell this year should more upsetting, when taken in comparison, if you are one of the heads at EA. Thats roughly NFL2k5 sales right there. Not what EA is used to.

Re: EA Boss Not Happy With Madden Sales....

I can't imagine that the NFL cares about Madden sales or what serious gamers think of the product. Why would the NFL care about whether there is an exclusive license for NFL video games, aside from the issue of how much it might add to their bottom line? If some company is willing to pony up crazy enough dough for an exclusive license that the NFL will make more money from that than having several companies put out NFL games, they'll go with the exclusive license. If not, they won't. The real question is whether EA will continue to cough up the required money to keep the exclusive deal. If the sales have dropped as much as d'ultimate's reporting they have, maybe things are getting to the point (or are already past the point) where EA isn't getting their money's worth from the deal. If that's the case, maybe there'll be some (much-needed) serious competition to Madden in the next few years.

btw, I'm liking this year's game and have (for the time being, at least) set down APF and 2k5 to play it. (I do sometimes think that the only reason Madden has my attention over 2k5 is that I'm so lazy that it's just easier for me to play everything on one system, than to fire up the PS3 for some games and the old Xbox for others.) But, it really feels like this is about as good as can be done with the current engine(s). In many respects, Ian & co seem to have done a great job, because they took the same basic materials that they had to work with for 09 and turned it into something playable and fairly enjoyable, despite its serious shortcomings. 09 was so godawful that I am surprised that this year's game turned out as well as it did. This will definitely be my last Madden purchase, though, until they entirely overhaul the game. If Madden 11 continues down the same path as what we've seen so far, it will be at best a polished-up version of 10, at least as far as game play is concerned. That's just not worth another $60 to me. If I somehow can't get updated rosters for next season in M10, I could see myself going back to 2k5.

LOL...no kidding. First Madden I've bought in 2 years and I'm already back to playing The Show. Maybe I'll try again in a couple of years, I would agree with what has been said by others in this thread what Madden needs is some competition.

People can argue all they want, but people have learned EA Sports Madden tatics over the years, and its not gonna work anymore. Fix the game, or continue to see sales decrease. And by fixing the game-GIVE US A NEW FULLY WORKING ONE. This wait and hope for patches EVERY YEAR is rediculous. Let the fanboys start to defend now, I could care less.

It factors into the equation just as much as the quality of the game.

I agree with this and often wondered why people would say the NFL care/should care. The NFL has already gotten what they wanted. A reported $400 million+. I'm sure they don't care past that point so long as EA is not desecrating the sport.

The real question is if its worth it for EA to pony up that kind of dough again for the license.

Not a bad article by Pasta.

Between the 360 and the PS3, Madden is down 50,000 copies from last year.

                          He puts it into perspective.

The official sales for August were released yesterday offering the opportunity to analyze the sales of Madden 10. The 360 version sold 928,000 and the PS3 sold 665,000 for a total of 1.59 million copies. Compared to last year sales fell from 1.64 million. So with a drop of 50,000 copies representing 3% Madden held

Haha...he can paint it anyway he wants to. The fact is, there are 20 million more consoles in homes between the PS3 and 360. 20 million MORE consoles and 50,000 less copies of Madden sold. And that's not even adding in Wii/DS/PSP sales. If you simply add in Wii sales, there's over 40 million more consoles in homes. Add in DS sales and it's up to 70 million.

How Madden managed to sell 50,000 less copies when there's over 70 million more consoles out there is beyond me. They really need to listen and start producing imo.
