Re: NBA Live 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (360)
I've played this demo alot and I agree with all the pro's and cons of the game.... with that being said I would probably give the retail version of this game a score around....7.9 it will be good but not great....
maybe a serious patch real early would help the score....
But after several more games just vs the CPU I got really frustrated and I don't think it plays like a 9.0 anymore which was my initial impression.
I'm not going to give it a grade now because it's unfair simply because the game isn't complete and they might add or fix things based on all of the feedback.
I had more fun playing it head to head the 1st day I downloaded it. It went downhill once I played the CPU more. But it might just be me and the overall expectations i had at first.NCAA FOOTBALL 14 ALUMNI LEGENDS CPU vs CPU DYNASTY THREAD

When you guys say RB, do you mean click it or hold it down?
Im in favor of some button solution so that I can post up on the perimeter and the fact that it will take people months to get used to the get ripped or slight stick move auto the post up thing.Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (360)
Having a manual option would be nice for those times when you want to post up but you're not quite in a position for the contextual post up to kick in.
RB, I think just a click rather than hold. as it would then start getting too fiddly, (i.e. right hand potentially doing RB, RT and RS movements at the same time)
Ultimately LT or LB is the most natural position for a post up button (and could then work for Blocking out on D) But I think that kind of change is for another year.
Having said all that... the passing controls are outstanding this year and wouldn't want to change them.
When you put them up against each other...
LT - The linch-pin button for an amazingly in-depth and intuitive passing system
OR
LT - A button that initiates post up... (a purpose that could be served any other available button)
I think passing gets priority here.
Anyway, very happy to hear you guys are listening, Mike.
I'd be happy to see quick play move to a stick button.Comment

now one thing I would like to see is players able to bang a bit more but the cpu usually doubles down on the post when my big tries to get his post offense on.
I think alot of people want a button just outta comfort and familiarity...I personally see no need to add yet another button push if what I want can be done contextually...seems unnecessary to meLast edited by dat swag; 09-13-2009, 11:46 PM.Comment

I guess we're all being proactive in this matter of the post up button and that's what constructive feedback is all about.
But I don't think they can make too many changes to the control scheme.Comment

Thoughts on controller layout for next year
LT Post up/Blocking Out/Defensive Assist
LB Passing
RB Playcalling
The left controls could be switched around.
Note: The current fix being discussed is a good fix, just throwing my .02 in.Comment

Re: NBA Live 10 Demo Available, Post Impressions Here (360)
Good idea, but I think a shoulder button is better for *playcalling.
The reason...
You keep movement control of your player. You can keep him out of trouble while you're selecting a play
With the D-Pad you lose that control for a moment and that could be disastrous against aggressive D. It would also break the flow a bit.
D-pad isn't a bad place for play calling, but I think shoulder buttons are better.Comment

Oops, meant playcalling, not passing...

Do you have hold the RT (turbo) for standing dunks or dunks right under the basket, or is it contextual?
I keep doing a crappy big man sizeup under the rack with Dwight and getting stripped when I just want to go straight up and dunk on someones head.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment

IMO posting up on the perimeter just doesn't happen often or at all...I think some of used to use that tactic in prior LIve versions where we would post on the perimeter and spin off the defender to get free. Watch a couple of NBA games and I doubt if you will see it often, if at all...

I love that they have the actual sounds from Laker games. Makes it feel more authentic and that I'm actually in the arena.Comment

But since Mike Wang said it will still be contextual I guess its okay I just don't want to get sucked into a post up unnaturally....... but what will happen when you press the button and nothing happens people will still have the same reaction and more to complain about and say its unresponsive. And u know what unresponive controls mean..... bad ratings bad ratings will lead to the dev team being dismantled and a ****ty game the following year. Idk I'm just ranting because I like the control scheme of any game that requires some skill to utilize. And I also think some people have no patience they wanna run down court and post with 20 secs still left on the shot clock lol.Comment
