I am with you, but I will keep Zambrano and Marmol.

The latter, i think, is more a victim of circumstance. The former has given the club just about everything he has for a number of years, and i am willing to bet he wants to win.

As for his weight/conditioning, so what? He isn't the first pitcher to have that issue and many have had no problems. If he genuinely has learned from it, fine.

A century-old sound of wind and nothing that sweeps through the heart each year sometime between July and October.

I can't help but post that Lou is going to "go with veterans down the stretch"...

I mean the team is out of the division and wild card by 8 games...it is done...wtf...no reason to see what else we have.

This season cant get over fast enough. But there are a lot of things the new ownership will have to address in the off season #1 how to get rid of baseballs version of T.0. Milton Bradley.

Amen to that. Cubs need Steve Stone in their front office in some kind of capacity. Cubs need some kind of radical change. The last two seasons have been great but what have they done for me lately? (Besides trading away half the division winning team)

What players do you think are gone next year? I'm pretty sure Bradley is, Gregg is Heilman. Maybe Zambrano? He does have a no trade clause though. We definately need a reboot.

I think Bradley will get traded with the cubs paying a big chunk of his salary.

I'd like to take a shot on Justing Duchscherer, but he's very injury prone and is currently on the DL for depression. I don't think he'd cost much money since he basically missed this whole year.

I think Harden is gone if he wants a long term contract worth big money, makes no sense to resign him especially since we can get 2 draft picks if he leaves via FA.

Trading Zambrano wouldn't be bad if we can get some top prospects, because lord knows we need some of those. But he really isn't worth his contract anymore IMO so it's going to be harder to get a lot for him now.

I really hope Gregg isn't back, while he's not completely terrible he is very mediocre.

I could possibly see Lee getting moved, if the cubs want to try to sell high on him.

                  Re: 2009 Chicago Cubs

                  pie in the sky, fellas.

I personally think the team if fuxored.

No matter what happens, the bullpen can't be fixed, too many holes.
The lineup/defense can't be fixed, bc Bradley and Soriano are eating money, and will NOT be valued on any market. In short, we have no real OF. Who would want Fukudome? Bradley? Soriano?

DeRosa is still gone (the keystone to this architecture of malfeasance that was 2009).

The rotation is a bright spot, of sorts.

The real problem is that, other than Fox and maybe Hoffpauir, there is not much youth to get excited about. Ascanio, who might have been the club's best SP in the minors is gone.

I would honestly rather give Bradley a shot next year than simply pay him to play for someone else.....let me rephrase that...i would rather have Bradley next year than Soriano.

                    1. So why not Steve Stone? You do know he was a pitcher in the majors right? Which makes him an ex-baseball player the type of people that get jobs in Major League Baseball? Heck he even won the Cy Young in 1980! If you ever heard his broadcasts in the 80's you could here his line, "for all you youngsters out there.." and then he would explain how to handle a certain play just like a coach would.

                    2. You dont think the Cubs need a radical change so a subtle change like Von Joshua is all thats needed for the Cubs to get back to winning the division?

                    3. You think last year was great but not the year before even though they won the division both years?

                    Thats some strange logic

sorry, you have misunderstood. i am in near-total agreement with you. scout's honor.

Though it is a little late in the game, the fact that Lee has 31 HRs after essentially being absent for the first month of the season is remarkable. really. he almost deserve comeback player just for that.

                        well...

i was hopeful that with soriano out of the way that fox might get a look in LF....in fact, the cubs site implied just that...

but he hasn't started now in 4 games.

                        thanks lou.

let's have some more sam fuld, and maybe some andres blanco in LF.
we have enough run producers right now. dickhead.

I'm assuming Ryne Sandberg will be the teams next manager, so the question is will Lou stay on for another year, or will the club hand the reins over to Ryno now?

So they are going for nostalgia?

I say that with all due respect for Sandberg, and in full admission that I don't know at all how well he manages.

That being said, I am all for it.

As for next year, Z is a 50-50 thing, i think. He has equal chance of stinking and of rebounding. They are paying him for 18 wins, but 15 is that target now.

Even if Harden leaves and the Cubs get draft picks the rotation remains a group of overachievers and a few question marks. And draft picks are damned near random shots.

Lee is a huge question mark. I like the guy, and I really appreciate his defense. He can rarely be counted on for a full-season of production, however, and seems to often play his best when it is less important...
