heres my take.

he has been on The Bigs and MVP recently.
Would Sony go for him as well?

if so, he's the best choice.

NL darkhorses?

Hanley Ramirez hitting 350

Prince Fielder: but he's doing the 2k thing so scratch him.

If they go pitcher, which they never do,.
Adam wainwright.
18 wins 2.59 era

AL

Mauer is hitting over 370.
But I dont see a twin making the cover.

Jason Bay with 34 and 107, but will they do a boston player again?
i dont see it.

Jeter?
as the legend choice?
if he was retiring yes, but i dont see it either.

Carlos Pena? 39 and 100?
maybe but does the average person know him?
Plus, tampa hasnt done well

which brings me to my choice.

Mark texeira.

a solid year with 35 and 114, coming to the yanks and keeping up with the jones makes hima solid choice.

for al pitchers?
nothing jumps out

unless they went the ea route and focused on the great pitcher batter duels that the show has, then go for two on the cover.

being a huge yankee fan and all i would love to see jeter on the cover because he is posting career high's in many offensive and defensive catagories.

Vlad made the cover after winning the mvp.
Big papi finished second in the mvp behind Arod and made the cover.

Ryan howard won it, made the cover the next year.
Dustin won it, made it.

yep.
based on the past guys (Ortiz, Wright, Howard, Pedroia), I'm thinking they go with a big market guy.
Yankees, Phillies, Mets, Dodgers, Angels, Red Sox. Am I leaving any team out?
So, my guess is either Tex, Ethier, CC, or Utley.

It needs to be a Yankee, any Yankee. As a team, they don't get anywhere near the media attention they're deserving of. And I'm even thinkin' SCEA should go in an exciting new direction with this. Include a pic of the entire Yankees' team on the cover... Yeah, that's the ticket!

I really doubt it'll be Mauer on the cover. He's cursed with playing for the Twins. Maybe Pujols, but he's very recently been on other covers.

And to the guy that said the Yankees don't get the media attention they deserve...really?
I can't go to ESPN without hearing about the Yankees and how great C.C. Sabathia is and how great A-Rod is and on and on and on...not sure what you've been watching, but you can't go to ESPN without hearing about Boston or the Yankees. Try being a Mariners fan..

He was being sarcastic. (Quite hard to pick up by reading text, bu there is no way he's being serious)

Anyway, I did some research and came up with my guess.

Alex Rodriguez

They have to go with a big-name player, and there are few or none bigger than A-rod. I went back pretty far, and didn't see him on any 2K or MLB covers. Plus, he's a Yankee. Since Wright and Howard went back to back, I have a feeling it will be an AL player again this year, but at this point it's all speculation.
