    Manager Mode early complaints

on the uk forums, there is early talk about issues with MM. namely the issue with form (phyiscal attributes changing game to game - not just skill/mental) and variance of weather.

gameplay sounds amazing, but people calling form issue a game killer for MM.

we will see. i get it friday, will pass on my thoughts.

This is VERY sad news ...

The "improvements" to MM in FIFA10 are what I am most excited for.

I am an offline-only player - and I get immersed in MM.

I hope that this is not a game breaker ...

Me too! Strictly off-line and if MM is broken what is the point.

A screenshot from one review showed a cutscene goal scoring celebration where Peter Crouch was the same height as another teammate. Crouch is the only 6'7" player I know of, and I don't think he has a teammate who is as tall as he is.

to be honest : PES year in and year out has a very addictive Manager Mode (even without all the realism) and me as a longtime PES player have no issue with physichal attributes changing as in PES they do that since the dawn of time and no one complains about it, do they ?
Maybe it´s the fact that the attributes aren´t shown different ? But it´s obvious that a player with a red up arrow is faster, quicker than a player in bad shape.

So if that´s all their is i´m not really discouraged. Should be fixable in a patch as well i guess.

after playing about ten MM games, the problem seems to be that the form is just exaggerated too much. They got a bit carried away I think. I've heard that form changes transfer value as well. If this is true then it's incredibly stupid but I'm not sure if this is true yet.

I have read they are aware of the form issue and are working on addressing. Could be that there is a patch in time for the US release.

As for injuries and fatigue, I'd be curious to hear what the "problems" are. Everything I read and watched from David Rutter was that there was going to be more emphasis on both so you were in situations where you had to use your bench. He said he hated that in '09 you could upgrade your Fitness Coach to level 10 and never have to bring a sub on for the entire year if you didn't want to. I welcome the challenge of having to tune my lineups, look ahead on the schedule and plan accordingly for fatigue - AS LONG as there's no more 2-match days...LOL!

OK so you wouldn't pay more for a player bang in form than a player horribly out of touch? To me form is intrinsically linked to the transfer value of a player as an in form player is more likely to be in demand than a player out of form thus his transfer value increases.

If it's exaggerated that is a shame because it would add some nice depth if done right.

I may just wait to see if they patch it before buying.

I agree. It has been that way in PES for years you just never saw the numbers actually change. So no big deal to me either.

                        Re: Manager Mode early complaints

I set up a Manager Mode with Lyon and noticed the following, some of which is probably already known:

                        - you can freely change kit numbers this time!

                        - still no proper league-wide Assists tracking (ie: no Top 20), but you can still view assist stats for your team.

                        - still only able to sim one game at a time only.

                        - you now start the season with 4 friendlies while the transfer window is still open. The first two were against fellow Ligue 1 teams, the 3rd and 4th were against foreign top league teams like Tottenham, forgot the other. It doesn't appear you can select/change opponents...maybe in the second season and beyond...?

                        - still cannot view results/stats/tables from Ligue 2, let alone other leagues around Europe.

                        - still no European Cup participation in the first season.

                        - players currently on loan at other clubs in real life are NOT owned by the correct team in MM...eg: John Mensah and Frederic Piquionne are currently Lyon-owned players out on loan at Sunderland and Portsmouth respectively in real life, but in MM, Sunderland and Pompey own these players outright. When i searched for Mensah, there was no option to recall him.

                        - players unattached to a club in the game (ie: they are in a national team, but not a club team) when you first start MM do NOT appear as signable players...eg: Mark Viduka and Lucas Neill are not at any club in the default squads, and when i searched for them by surname within MM's Transfer section, they did not appear at all. There doesn't seem to be any way to add them to a club or Free Agents in the main menu either unfortunately (unless you manually create them of course).

Just some first impressions there. I can't comment about CPU-transfer realism or realism in final standings yet since i didn't actually play any games here.

The transfers seem on point in terms of clubs buying according to their budgets. And one cool thing is that if you sell a player to another club, they will immediately incorporate him into the lineup if he's good enough. The only problem I see is that the logic for the starting 11 for the CPU is kind of out whack. On the way to trying to have the best 11 on the field, you will see a lot of players in weird positions. Kaka and David Silva playing defensive midfielder while Xabi Alonso and Henry play as wingers, and David Villa playing support striker to Vicente? It's kind of weird, but at least they do adjust their lineups.

                            Re: Manager Mode early complaints

After playing 15 games into my first season in Manager mode. I think statistics is important to the manager mode, and this year it is even more broken than last year.
                            I have noticed some problems:
                            1. The Assist game stat is broken. I have not got one assist on any of my players even though the assist stat is higlighted in the season statistics. Assist is a important feature in the stats category.
                            2. The stats from cup games does not count in the season stats. I often use young players in the cup games and they only got 1 game, and no other statistic.
                            3. After playing 15 games plus pre season games I have yet to see a injurie. No players is out with injuries.
                            4. It is way to much transfers between CPU teams. I want to play the manager mode with real squads.
                            5. The fatigue is broken. The players do not get tired. The energy bar is almost at max all the time.
