    Phillip Rivers arm strength??

I planned on making this thread after seeing him play in person against the Falcons in the pre season and just forgot. But now after them play every week so far this year and especially after yesterday's game I believe that Rivers 82 throw power is far too low him. I know he doesn't have the strongest arm in the league or anything close to it but an 82 is pretty weak. He can't get much zip on the ball and can't really throw the deep ball with an 82 rating. If you have seen him play he throws a nice deep ball with a zice zip on it. Especially this year. I'm not saying jump him up to a 90 plus or anything like that but I believe a rating around 86 would be right for him. What do you guys think??

He does. I moved it up to an 85. So in my rosters he is like an 90 or 91 overall with 86 throwing power and 85 deep accuracy.

His throw to Jackson this week kind of cemented my thoughts about his arm strength. You could tell he was putting almost all of his arm into it and it was in the air maybe at most 40-50 yards. His arm really is in the lower 80s IMO.(His deep accuracy may very well deserve a raise, I just dont know what it is currently)

        EDIT
To further describe QB arm strength. Anything below 80 struggles to make NFL deep routes and probably cant throw any further then 40 yards. I feel that 80-85 can get the ball out to at least 40-50 yards. Guys with 85-90 can get the ball out 50-60 yards. Anyone with 90+ can easily throw the ball 60+ yards in all weather.(I think the upper end of arm strength is messed up but that is off topic and I also feel there should be two types of arm strength like throw distance and zip on the ball because some people have zip but no deep ball ect ect)

After what he did to my Fins yesterday, Phillip Rivers deserves a boost. The guy is a one man show and throws a nice deep ball, sorta like Brees. Neither has a JaMarcus Russel kind of arm, but they both can stretch the field as good as any.

He's among tops in the league in completions over 20+ and 40+, he throws one of the best deep balls in the league.

Vincent jackson's speed in madden is embarassing

                Bernard Berrian 97 speed
                40 time 4.58
                career ypc 15.7
                this year ypc 10.2
last year ypc 20.1 with 48 catches

                Vincent Jackson
                40 time 4.46
                career ypc 17.5

I understand your reasoning but every NFL QB can throw the ball at least 60 yards. With touch and accuracy is a different discussion. At the old QB competitions, they had a contest to see who could throw it the farthest. Vinny Testaverde had the record at 80 yards. I know Favre heaved it about 74 yards one year but I think every QB that ever threw got at least 62 or 63 yards from memory.

40 yard times do not equal speed and stats do not equal a good player. If either of those were true the Chris Henry(or any other combine warrior) would have 90+ speed and countless one hit wonders would be superstars in the NFL.

I know that but how do they come to a conclusion that Berrian is so much faster than V jax???? If you watch the games, V jax is always running by both safeties and corners and in berrians case he gets deep because the corners and safeties bite on the play action because of AP.

If Madden wants to give him a 80's in his arm strength they better have him at HIGH 90's on accuracy and awareness etc.

He's one of the top 3-4 QB's in the League. Finally this year he's making more people (especially the media) aware of what I've known since his days at NCSU.

And he hasn't had the "real" L.T. as RB to count on for at least 2 seasons. The game has passed him I'm afraid.

Just curious instead of complaining or suggesting a change about a number, have you had issues in game with Rivers not being able to throw the ball far enough?

I have yet to see enough of a difference or any issue with any throw power in the game, it seems to me and i'm not trying to start this battle here as well that just Speed, Accel, and Throwing Accuracy is all that really matters, all quarter backs seem to have the same arm strength when playing to me.

They come to that conclusion because Berrian has been a burner since he was in Chicago.

Vincent Jackson does need a boost though

On a streak route, BB can blow by people(and outrun them) and VJ can get by just enough to be open(then be tackled). Would that explain why BB has so much more speed then VJ? I will give you that VJ may be underrated with how he performs IRL but this thread is about Rivers throw power.
