NBA Developer Insights: NBA 2K10 Offensive Gameplay - Part II
2K Sports has posted another NBA Developer Insight, this one featuring NBA 2K10 Offensive Gameplay - Part II.
"First we’ll talk about alleys. Fortunately, a lot of the changes to the dunk system were directly applied to alley-oops, which, along with the massive amount of new animations and a few other tweaks, makes our alley-oop system without a doubt the best and cleanest we’ve ever had. Unlike last year, we now have alley-layups. There’s no special button required to throw a layup vs. a dunk as it’s automatic based on ability and coverage. We have better distinction this year between the size and ability of a player when throwing an alley-oop and completing it. Last year you had to have a really good passer to complete one so we’ve reworked the criteria to be more realistic. Also new this year, there is a shot percentage on every alley-oop dunk and lay-up, which allows for the more difficult ones to not be successful even if the receiver catches the ball."Last edited by J-H!zZl3; 09-29-2009, 01:36 PM.Tags: None -

Hey man..."At 2k..we don't play"
lol
I loved everything that I saw up there. Great improvement...more like Awesome improvements!!
edit: "Trying to pass out of a shot can yield a turnover" Surprised he didn't put based on ability there. CP3, Dwill, LeBron, and Steve Nash should be able to pass out of a shot. But not Ben Wallace, Shaq, Yao, Tyson Chanlder and Dwight Howard. lol I hope thats what he means.Last edited by jeebs9; 09-29-2009, 02:01 PM.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: NBA Developer Insights: NBA 2K10 Offensive Gameplay - Part II
a few questions:
1. For Runners - "They’ve been sigged and play when you are running across the basket and you move the Shot Stick in the direction of the player’s movement."
shouldn't this be the direction that's away from, the basket instead?
2. I like the thing about moving while setting a pick, but will moving screens be called??Comment

Sounds spectacular, even though I've seen most of these things at work already. I look forward to possibly completing an inbound ally-oop at some point, something I was never able to come close to in 2K9. Further, I read in an impression that someone had the computer attempt an inbound lob at the end of a quarter. Impressive.Comment

Yea thats what I think he meant. Yea I have seen a few moving picks called already. I can't tell you how much of s problem it was in 2k9.a few questions:

I just hope to god. That the inbound oops are rare. Thats what makes it nice to see. Because they happened so rarely. I was pretty good at throwing them. But only used it in those "I'm down with .7 second situations"Sounds spectacular, even though I've seen most of these things at work already. I look forward to possibly completing an inbound ally-oop at some point, something I was never able to come close to in 2K9. Re: NBA Developer Insights: NBA 2K10 Offensive Gameplay - Part II
After reading this im now convinced that PastaPadre is an idiot who didnt take time to learn the game properly in terms of the leaners, drifters etc. He said that the game had none but he obviously wasnt using the shot stick.Comment

I'm playing right now and happy I paused to read this. Inbound Opps seems solid just tried one with the Bucks and though I didn't complete it, the functionality is definately done correctly. Maybe try one with the Suns this game

Yea I remember clutch factor being very annoying to people. But I wonder how it affect the game in a human vs human game.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories
