Kickoffs they always run it back.

I'm doing a dynasty with Kentucky on NCAA Football 09, and everytime I kick off, I swear they run it back for a TD. What the hell am I doing wrong? I've never had this happen, but since taking over for Kentucky, it seems every game they at least run one back, if not two.

What are your blocking sliders set at? I think if they are too high for the computer your guys get knocked over like bowling pins. It's nothing you are doing wrong as the user, but rather a problem with the logic within the game. T

Personally I Super Sim most of my kickoffs to the CPU. I only allow one per half as a house rule to be manual.

It's way too high. I'd say I get about 25 percent of kickoffs returned for TD's against me. It's maddening.

I think I've had maybe one(two max) kick run back against me since I got the game...I've played a total of 8 seasons I think over 3 different dynasties.

What i do is a middle kick every time, don't take anyone out of their lane.. if you see a guy get through scott free, switch to him and go after the ball carrier... don't try and hitstick, just tackle the guy

main thing is, don't bust the integrity of the coverage by moving a guy out of his lane... wait until the right moment to switch to the nearest guy.

That happens when you whiff the kick and it goes where it wasnt supposed to go.

For example if you pick kickoff middle, and kick it left or right then the cpu will punish you. Just make sure you kick accurately and if you do pick kickoff left or right then kick it in that direction.

I had no more than 3 kickoffs returned for TD by the cpu and i had this game since release.

I had this problem totally ruin a dynasty for me, I ended up quitting and starting a new one. In the first 4 games of that dyansty, I had 10 kickoffs returned for TD's. It was so maddening, I had to quit.

It only happened in Dynasty Mode. I would adjust my sliders, test them in play now and think I had the problem solved. Then I would play a game or two in that dyansty and BOOM!...TD after TD. I finally decided I couldn't lower the CPU's run block rating any lower, w/o making their running game totally impotent, so I just started a new dynasty.

So far so good in my current dyansty, CPU has only run back one kickoff on me in 4 games. I will see...hopefully kickoffs won't screw up this dynasty too.

I haven't had any trouble with kickoffs. Like they said, if you kick where you are supposed to and stay in your lanes, the coverage is good. If you break out of your lane early and kick it to the side on a mid kick, you're doomed.

I think it is a random glitch because in the situation I had it didn’t matter how well I kick the ball or stayed in my lane. Adjusting the sliders didn’t help either. I tried everything I could and the AI still got great returns. If the AI didn’t take it to the house, the CPU at least got to mid-field or beyond.

I just posted this same thing in the patch thread. I hadn't played in a couple of weeks, until a few days ago. I got the new patch and now the CPU runs back at least 2 a game. I mean literally walking into the endzone, 98% of my team is on the ground and I have NEVER touched the sliders in the game. I have also seen this from Freshman to Heisman. I switched the difficulty to see if it made a difference and it didn't.

Guys, the op said this was for NCAA 09! Not NCAA '10. The slider issue with run blocking was not in NCAA 09. Furthermore I think the special teams each have their own issues between the two games.

I do tend to give up some kickoffs for TDs against the cpu in NCAA 09 but a normal amount. Certainly not every game but you can't sleep walk through the kickoff either. I usually kick it right down the middle and either stay as the kicker and rush down and take on a blocker (so one of my cpu teammates gets free) or switch to someone right next to the kicker and run down. Do not let yourself get blocked! Run around them and not right into them unless you are the kicker. Furthermore, don't use one of the outside gunners as you will likely break contain or blow a tackle and that could be bad.
