Lebron, please hand in your #23 jersey so the benchwarmer can have it

In my player i make a SG and choose 23 as my jersey number, i get picked up by the cavs and lebron loses #23! What is with that??? Players dont give up their number, even Shaq couldnt get 32 because someone else had it when he joined the Cavs, so why do I, a bench warmer, get #23 and lebron, the star player on the team, loses it.

I realize this is a minor detail but if realism was the primary goal in this mode then they screwed up here.

Uh, nobody on the Cavs had #32 when Shaq joined the team (Joe Smith who wore it last year was a free agent). He wanted to go back to #33.

That's just not right. 23 is apart of his brand. That's like Jordan giving up 23 to Shawn Bradley if he joined the Bulls.

That's weird cuz i'm on the Knicks and me and Nate Robinson have the same number. I had to change mine cuz his didn't change.

They should allow the "My Player" to buy the jersey number from the person that already has it

Things that should be taken into consideration:

            1. Tenure witht eam
            2. Overall rating

Higher combination of both = higher price tag.

23 was NEVER part of his brand, he stole it from MJ. That # will always belong and be associated with Jordan. Yet people criticize Kobe for trying to "Be Like Mike." Atleast Kobe didn't rip off his number (like that pseudo MVP in Cleveland).

Maybe IF he ever wins a chamionship, he deserves to wear it. Until then...he's just another good, athletic player overhyped by the media who hasn't won jack and who pads his individual stats and is concerned more about moiney and fame than winning a title.

Only reason they should allow this if you're a all-star or close to it.

Or the sorrier you are, the more you have to pay then. Take those 3 things into consideration.

I had the same issue. I was drafted by the Knicks, but I picked number 33. For some reason, Wilson Chandler went from number 21 to number 44 and Tony Douglas went from 23 to 16. Maybe because I picked a retired number. It's stupid that you can't edit players in My Player mode, and I don't care about editing ratings, just basic information.

Really? Who didn't want to be like Mike! You can honestly say Lebron isn't one of the names you think of when you hear the number 23? It's just as important to Jordan as is now with Lebron. I honestly think Jordan would let Lebron WEAR 23 if he went to Chicago. And Kobe is a Jordan 'groupie' (like every other 24 and older player) and everything that man does is "like Mike": the way he runs down the court, the moves he makes, the way he talks about Phil, the way he talks in interviews. But his greatest unlike Mike attribute is: He needs a dominant Big Man to win

Back on topic: Yeah that ish ain't right, that needs to be fixed

this must be a 2K glitch, b/c when playing 2K Baseball i had the same issue happen w/ players were traded. star playes #s would change if some one was either traded or called up to that team wearing the same #. i was contstantly editing players during my season. i might it's minor, but it be nice if they would address that in the future. i just understand why developers don't release a game that is glitch & patch free, instead of releasing these games too soon. i mean honestly we're @ least a month away b4 the NBA season even starts.
& daym them (2K) 4 not releasin' a College Hoops this year!

This is a little off topic, BUT why did T-Mac give up #1 to Ariza? Who ironically was #3 last year, which is McGrady's number this year. What's going on in Houston?

Oh... I got the scoop from Yahoo search. Big ups to T-Mac!

"The new number represents his documentary on Darfur, titled "3 Points." It refers to the goals the NBA baller has for his efforts: peace, protection and punishment.

In the summer of 2007, McGrady took a trip to the Darfur region of Sudan, where civil unrest is at an all-time high. He filmed his experience while he was there and has since dropped more than $75,000 in humanitarian aid to the region."

So Ariza had to give up HIS number to T-Mac, because T-Mac chose to use #3.

This is only kind of related, but Lebron has actually considered changing his number to 6 in the past, his jersey number in the Olympics.

I was drafted by the Bulls and I still have the number 23 during the summer league.. If I make the team will I have to find a new number? Was very surprised to see I could actually wear it with them but maybe it's only because of the summer league
