Re: 720, can i get 1080 for ps3?

The PS3 upscales to 1080p. Some TV's can do this as well, for example you could set the PS3 to 1080 and let the TV convert it to 1080p. For that matter some of your TV's could scale the 720p to 1080p, which is what my ONkyo NR-906 flagship receiver does, and it seams to tighten it up ever so slightly using this combo. The real benifit of using this receiver is the fact I can adjust each color individually, and even adjust each colors brightness, and contrast+much mouch more!

Anyway, when the PS3 upscales to 1080p with games, it just causes jaggies. If they would release these games in true 1080p like the back of the box suggests, it would be absolutely beautiful.

The box says capatable with 720p,1080,1080p for a reason. Because The PS3 will upconvert the game to 1080p, but really its meant to be looked at in 720p. To me personally, this is a bit shaddy, because I can scale the game to 1080p, without the PS3's help. I can scale a 480i or 480p to 1080p via hdmi, component, s-video, or even the single yellow rca cable from any source with my receiver. So to me the box is misleading to a point, because I can scale anything to 1080p and dont need some capatible stamp on the box.

Blue Ray movies look incredible in 1080p. I cant wait for the day Ps3 games are the same.

I think the best bet, from what Ive seen, is to set the PS3 to 720p(use auto feature) and play around with the TV's upscale to 1080p setting and see what you think.
