First year I try and make a few moves, dump older expensive players and or expiring contracts for draft picks or younger players that aren't great (no 80+ overall rookies or any garbage like that). I like to sim year one watching trade block and such and try and make a few small moves and on occasion land a big one if a team is trying to get rid of an impact player and I can make a realistic trade for them.

Offseason year 1 is nuts for me though, i normally have the max 10 draft picks, make a bunch of signings both big and small, because you can't sign all the good guys and not be in cap hell.

I just try and manage the team, its fun playing but I seem to have more fun building a team.
